Personally I think there is a difference in temperament. They are not as hyper as my yorkies...and really just gentler. It is difficult to put your finger on...but they're different and in a way I wouldn't say was just the personality of the dog.

The names may change and the kids colors may also change down the line due to mixed marriages etc etc. But they still came from the same 2 ancestors. Whether it be Native american or Italian.

Um... this has nothing to do with the Biewer/Yorkie debate, but your son and your sister's son did NOT come DIRECTLY from your parents... they came indirectly. Your son came directly from you and your husband and your sister's son came directly from your sister and her husband.

I agree with this, there is a big difference in the biewer/yorkie temperments. The biewers are much more quiet. Mine is almost 8 mos and has barked twice in 2 1/2 mos. Their personalities are so different. If you don't have a biewer and terrier to raise together Breezeway, then, you wouldn't have a clue as to the difference

I don't think that's what she's trying to say at all. And, I do agree with her statement. Lastnight I was talking to my sister about my new g=daughter. Well, my sister was telling me she had noticed in her 4 mos old grandsons picture the other day, he looked just like my son when my son was that age, yet, my son at that age looked like his dad(my hubby). So, that means if my son and his 1st cousins baby looked alike at a certain age, then, my sister and I must carry a trait that we've passed down to where 2nd cousins look alike. It's confusing, but, I do know exactly what Gayle is talking about

I have raised dogs for 35 years.
I have a yorkie that has barked maybe twice in 2 years, she is very quiet. Hmmm.
I am not going to argue, They are all YORKIES. Some bark, some dont, Some are loving, some arent, some are chewers, some arent, some are big eaters some arent, some weigh 3 lbs, some weigh 15 lbs. etc etc the list can go on and on. What I am saying is each dog is different.

I have a Yorkie who is very quite, a Biewer who is quiet and one who is not particularly quite, lol My Yorkie rarely if ever barks, and she is a purebread Yorkie, lol. Personalities differ amongst breeds as well as within breeds

Like I said, I'm not contributing to the yorkie/beiwer debate. It's just incorrect to say that grandchildren came "directly" from grandparents, because they didn't. "Direct" would refer to the following generation. Grandparents/grandchildren relationship is "indirect".

What you are saying is fine, and I'm sure that's what she meant but did not correctly say.

As a mathematician, poor logic bugs me.

Epsilon, I believe that's more of a semantic distinction than a logical one. And I'd say the semantics are correct -- if you claim to be a direct descendent of George Washington, say, you are not claiming that George Washington is your father.
