AKC will only register a dog born of akc parents. APRI will duel register an akc dog. Since your pup is APRI just register throught them, and if you decide to Show APRI does have dog shows. They judge the dog on it own merits and not pit the dogs against other dogs or who is at the end of a lead.

| ![]() APRI also is more strict with the dog that is showing in the ring...all dogs being shown have to be micro chipped and when they leave the showring the micro chip is scanned and also DNA (pull a few hairs) is placed with the judging papers. They know for sure that the dog entered in the show is the dog showing in the ring! The dog also has to have a Health certifacte before entering the ring.....AKC does none of this! |

One of Chloe's parent's is AKC registered and (I think )APRI registered as well and one is only APRI registered.( I think this is how I read it -I will reread to be sure) So since only one parent is AKC registered I cannot register with AKC , correct? I am going to register her with APRI . I just wanted to find out if I was to do AKC as well. I have no problem with the registries , I just never knew any existed besides AKC /CKC before hand. I don't have any plans on showing her. I can hardly keep her from looking like a hot mess most of the time ![]()

| ![]() It is stated right on their website that the APRI was formed to protect the interests of the professional (retailers, wholesalers, brokers, and commercial kennels) pet industry. ![]() https://www.aprpets.org/FAQs.html |

| ![]() The mama probably has AKC registered heritage because most all APRI registerd dogs were AKC first...When dual registering with APRI you MUST also Send a pedigree, unless both parents are already APRI and if they are then there is already a pedigree behind you puppy. |

Yes both her parents are APRI registered and I believe the dad is AKC registered also. I received her papers the other day and was looking up her family tree and it was very fun to see them all . I know her dad and granddad were Champions but I don't know about her mom's side , I don't think so. No matter what I love her to pieces ![]()

And AKC stands for American KENNEL Club. So what do you think they were started for? Everyone is mad because APRI is just as good as AKC and have taken a bunch of business away from AKC. APRI does have the right to inspect your dogs and papers just like AKC has the right to. From what I have heard that AKC is going to start or have already started accepting other registries that have a proven background. Sounds like they need money.

| ![]() Several generation back in the dams line, I bet you will also find AKC...If you have her APRI pedigree, you can search the names with AKC. |
