| Able to reason... Hi... I'm new to YorkieTalk and this is my first post. Our Yorkie, Spanky, is nearing 10 years old but when he was just a few months old he amazed us with his ability to reason. My wife was tossing a ball and a small Elmo doll across the room. Spanky ran after them, picked up the ball and looked at Elmo... he hesitated, then put down the ball, picked Elmo up in his mouth and proceeded to kick the ball back to her. He wasn't in complete control of the ball, but he sure had the idea. Over the years, he has continued to do this as well as figure out other things. And, it seems he knows he is doing something special because he will strut like he is really proud of himself. What personalities they have! I even made a website for him, called TerrificYorkies.com Glad to be here and learn what I can from all you other Yorkie lovers. Terry Riffey |

| That is a very cute story! Jack amazes me at times too. So smart. He has a little duck we call ducky and a little pig my kids call his Wilbur. If you say where's ducky or where's wilbur, he just looks at me. But any time I say, "Let me see" he will run and get one of them. I thought that was so cute. Also as soon as someone says the word "Outside" he starts running around all goofy like waiting on someone to go outside. It is soooo cute! And since my son is 9 yrs old, he goes in and out all the time. Therefore Jack is constantly looking at him wondering when the next time he'll go outside. It is so funny LOL! I love it!

| Hi Terry and welcome to you and Spanky. It's nice you found us. Spanky sounds like a little smartie. This breed is too smart for it britches. I truly believe they understand everything going on and don't miss a trick. Very much like kids. LOL |

| They are something else... Spanky has three tennis balls and he chooses one at a time he wants to play with... if that one is not around, he runs all over the house looking for it. We can tell him to check the kitchen and he runs in there... the bedroom, he does the same... then, he stares at us... asking for help and as we walk around looking, he is right beside us looking up as if to say, "have you found it yet???" Once found, he is so happy and settles down to play... |
