| Another Newbie My first Yorkie will be delivered to my doorstep on 6 Feb. Saturday we drove two hours up the coast to see the litter and just fell in love with one sweet little girl. The breeder will bring her down to us on the 6th and so I am presently busying myself with the process of getting ready for my first puppy in nearly 20 years! (I've been collecting abandoned adult toy dogs...mostly Maltese...that need forever homes.) I've always loved Yorkies and every time there is a gift-giving occasion and Hubby asks me what I want, I say "What I want is a Yorkie, but I'll settle for a (watch, handbag, fancy pair of shoes...whatever)." Last week he asked me what I wanted for Valentine's Day and I said a Yorkie and he just said "OK." I'm so excited I could squeak! I've read a lot of the stuff here and am so glad there is a body of such knowledgeable people available for help! I am SO looking forward to my new baby! | Oh, you are so right. I wanted to take her home with me, but she's not old enough to leave her mom yet. Even my husband, who has been rather nonchalant about this, was charmed. He talked about her all the way home! |

| My husband swears he is going to call her Puddin'!. Her mother's name is Minki and her sire is Gustaf (the breeders are Afrikaaners) but I'm leaning towards something a less Teutonic. My first choice is Ghillie Cerise. Now I have to sell it to my husband who says she looks like a Puddin' ! |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Congratulations on the expected arrival of your baby girl. Can't wait to hear all about her here, and of course see pictures. Puppies are so much fun, and worth about all the work.

| Thanks! The last puppy I had was a Peke, back in 1991, so this will be an experience. My husband has never had a puppy (our dogs are all rescued adults), so I am trying to prepare him for the experience, especially the first few nights. He used to laugh at me when I put fleece jerseys on the Maltese when winter struck, but when we were in a pet store on Sunday I caught him looking at a little denim and gingham doggie dress!! Feb 6 can't get here fast enough! |

| You might as well go ahead and start planning on getting a second because it sounds like your DH is smitten with Puddin'. It's just wonderful how these guys fall head over heels for these little ones. My 'manly' DH will put Gracie Ruth's hair up in matching scrunchie and glitterly clips. If they are going out on a cold day he'll make sure her shirt and scrunchie matches. He's constantly coming up with new hair styles for her. He'll even put all 3 in their jammies on cold days so that they will be comfortable. It's so cute.

| Well, it is difficult to wait, that is for sure! But I have been waiting for four years to get permission to add a Yorkie to the house, so I can take a few more days! |

| TeresaM: He actually tried to get the breeder to do a deal for Puddin' and the other female in the litter...I think he wanted Puddin' all to himself! My husband has very big hands with long fingers, and that pup stretched out on her back on the palm of his hand and went to sleep, then had dreams that had her paws twitching and her little mouth sucking. He was hooked! I think he may be a bit disappointed when she gets too big to use the palm of his hand for a cradle! |
