So...I was talking to a fellow nursing student and she wanted to come over to study. She saw Suri and almost cried. She said that she had a little yorkie named Toby. He passed away.

She said that she rescued a female dog that was roaming the streets because she felt bad for it. (Just until she could find it a home) Well...when she fed them she always fed Toby first then the female dog. One day she gave the female her bowl first and Toby went to get some and the dog killed him.

She saw the whole thing and couldn't get the dog off of him. She wears a necklace that has a yorkie on it with toby's name and birthday. I felt so bad. But Suri made sure to give her lots and lots of kisses to make her feel a little better.

OMG, that just breaks my heart for her!! How terribly sad.

I felt so bad when she told me. Its amazing how a yorkie can just melt someones heart. This person isn't very nice to people and is usually rude in class (Never to me) and it is amazing when she talked about Toby that all went away.

That's so sad! I couldn't imagine being in her shoes, seeing something like that happen.

Awww, how incredibly sad. I mean, really really sad. You think you're doing something good and then something like that happens. She probably has a really good heart but is just so hurt and doesn't know how to cope with it so she's rude and impatient (yikes...NOT a good trait for a nurse, and that's coming from a nurse

). But maybe a lot of stuff in her life.....it's so sad about the dog though, I'm sure she blames herself for it.

On the other hand, it's kind of a good reminder that when you take any animal into your life, you have to decide what your priorities are....I (and I know most people here) would love to adopt almost every abandoned pet I see, but I have to stop and remember that the dogs I have are the ones I need to honor my commitment to......they need lots of love and attention and it's just not fair to bring anything else into our home that might compromise their health or security. I understand that sometimes it's just a really unfortunate occurance....I feel really bad for your classmate.
