Since the first ingredient is chicken broth, does that mean we are paying for mostly water?

It's ok that she wants to endorse something she believes in. Not to mention as consumers we should be more than sheep who follow and educate ourselves instead of jumping on the band wagon. I would hope most of us have more sense than that.

I know people who dislike Ellen just because she IS Ellen.
Same with Oprah.
They're people just like us.

Natural Pet Care Products from Halo
I don't dislike Ellen or Oprah.

My objection is soley based on the fact...the product she's endorsing is for her financial gain. She's not soley a pet lover...

That aside I wouldn't consider the food simply because it contains grain products. Personally I see all those vegetables as fillers...while it may be organic fillers...it's fillers just the same.

I would never feed a cat this product...it's definitely not benefical food for a cat.

This is the same Halo that they've been selling in Petco for awhile now....at least since I got Bella 7 mo. ago. I went on Petco's website to make sure it was the same thing I have seen every time I'm in there, and it is, but they've jazzed it up now with Ellen on their web page for that food:

Dog Food: Premium Dog Food, Puppy Food. Best Puppy & Dog Food Brands at PETCO

My dad asked me awhile back what I thought about, so I had to check it out to know. Here are the ingredients of the adult one:

Chicken, whole dry egg, pea protein, oats, vegetable broth, pearled barley, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols and citric acid), pea flour, chicken liver, wild salmon, flaxseed, salmon oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), pea fiber, sweet potatoes, apples, blueberries, green beans, carrots, cranberries, zucchini, alfalfa, inulin, calcium sulfate, potassium chloride, salt, taurine, folic acid, zinc proteinate, iron proteinate, cobalt proteinate, copper proteinate, manganese proteinate, vitamin A supplement, vitamin D3 supplement, vitamin E supplement, choline bitartrate, niacin, pantothenic acid, ascorbic acid, riboflavin supplement, thiamine mononitrate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, biotin, calcium iodate, lactobacillus acidophilus, bifidobacterium longum, enterococcus faecium, lactobacillus plantarum, sodium selenite

They look pretty good to me, with the exception of added salt, which is in about the middle of the list.....I thought manufacturers added salt to increase palatability due to poor ingredients, which doesn't make sense here to me at all??? Anyway, aside from added sodium which little dogs especially don't need, I think it looks like a pretty decent food....comparable to many good ones out there.

Just my 2c...

It still makes me a nervous wreck - LOL!

Actually those ingrediants read very very closely to Beneful Prepared meals.

Chicken formula...

Water sufficient for processing, chicken, wheat gluten, liver, white rice, green beans, meat by-products, corn starch-modified, carrots, wild rice, artificial and natural flavors, calcium phosphate, salt, soy flour, potassium chloride, added color, tricalcium phosphate, zinc sulfate, choline chloride, Vitamin E supplement, ferrous sulfate, thiamine mononitrate, copper sulfate, manganese sulfate, Vitamin A supplement, niacin, calcium pantothenate, Vitamin B-12 supplement, riboflavin supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, potassium iodide, Vitamin D-3 supplement, folic acid, sodium selenite, biotin

Oh gosh girl, I know...she CRACKS me up LOL. She had a Slanket/Snuggie (one of those huge wrap blanket things) on today and I was just laughing my butt off at her lol She was showing clips on today's show of other gadgets and it was just so funny - if you do watch her show today, watch for the one where she is showing a clip of the ear piece thing - I cracked up at that!! I love when she talked about "groceries not being the only junk in the lady's trunk" - LOL!!

Oh and yeah, we do get her early - her show comes on at 11 a.m. here! They also repeat it later in the afternoon

Oh my. Poor Brooke. She was only mentioning that Ellen will be on QVC talking about Halo. She didn't suggest that every single person should convert to Halo simply because Ellen is the owner.

Let me first say that I'm not endorsing this food, rather that it looks to be of above average quality, to me. And let me say that I home cook now, but have fed Wellness, California Natural, and Natural Balance in the past before I started home cooking. (I have a nutritionist who has balanced my home cooking.) Oh, and I also tried Nature's Variety Raw Chicken for just one day, which Bella didn't care for much, but I would have tried it longer had there not been extenuating circumstances.

I don't think they look very close to Beneful's meals at all considering none of the red (flags) are ingredients. "Meat-by-product" takes it entirely out of the same category as Halo to me. I would say that many consider Wellness a quality food, and even though some prefer not to feed grains and some prefer not to feed veggies (though most grain-free diets still include veggies), that is really a preference. Here is the ingredient list for Wellness' Small Breed Adult formula:

Deboned Turkey, Chicken Meal, Salmon Meal, Oatmeal, Ground Brown Rice, Ground Barley, Rye Flour, Chicken Fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols, a natural source of Vitamin E), Menhaden Fish Meal, Tomato Pomace, Natural Chicken Flavor, Pea Fiber, Tomatoes, Salmon Oil, Ground Flaxseed, Carrots, Spinach, Sweet Potatoes, Apples, Blueberries, Potassium Chloride, Minerals [Zinc Sulfate, Zinc Proteinate, Iron Proteinate, Ferrous Sulfate, Copper Proteinate, Copper Sulfate, Manganese Proteinate, Manganese Sulfate, Sodium Selenite], Vitamins [Beta-Carotene, Vitamin E Supplement, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Vitamin A Supplement, Niacin, Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin, Vitamin D-3 Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Thiamine Mononitrate, Folic Acid, Biotin, Vitamin B-12 Supplement], Choline Chloride, Taurine, Mixed Tocopherols (a natural preservative), Chicory Root Extract, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Chondroitin Sulfate, Dried Lactobacillus plantarum, Enterococcus faecium, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation products.

Halo looks much closer to that to me....
