So sorry, poor little soul. Petsmart was here in the Uk and their pet dept, conditions were so appalling that Animal Rights did demonstrations which cought the media's attention. There was so much bad press about them, that they suddenly changed to Pets at home. They deny they are the same company!!. I have one near me and I go in ever so often to check out their pets they sell. They too have a vet on the premises. |
Oh, my heart is just breaking for you!!!!!!!:unlove: I don't know what to say except that such a tragedy certainly could have been avoided if only proper attendance had been given to the pets being groomed. I'm so sorry for your loss. |

Julie, I hope you post again & see how much support you have here on YT |
My husband is a lawyer. IF I were you, like you said before about others having this happen: I'd start a CLASS action lawsuit. There are many good firms that can do this for you!! When I take my baby there because she is fully grown @ 2lbs and very little I let her walk on a lease but never let her approach the larger dogs. I'd die if anything ever happened to Lexie. I'd make them pay!!! Inquire into it and try and get intouch with everyone that has had problems like this occur. I groom my own babies because they are so small. So sorry for your lost. |
I am so sorry! APPALLING! Here is a link to what happend to my friend at petsmart grooming. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...-grooming.html Prayers from MN coming your way and hope you get justice for your baby! |
I'm so so sorry for your loss and for the circumstances. I pray for you to have the strength to deal with it all. |
Julie, I am so sorry you have lost your precious Bella in such a horrible ordeal. Like everyone else here, I agree that you should sue. Do any of the other posters/members have ideas of how we can help bring public awareness to this tragedy to help prevent it from happening again? Many of us would be willing to write letters, send emails, etc. but please guide us to where they should be sent (not only to Petsmart, but other areas to bring public awareness, as well as alerting all grooming or pet handling facilities). |
I am so sorry for your loss. This is so tragic. I would surely look into pursuing legal action...My heart is breaking for you. Thoughts n prayers coming your way. |
I am so sorry...i hate petsmart too! I had a similar ordeal with the Petsmart where I live here in Nash Tn. I took my Yorkie there when she was a very small pup. I only needed a few things done to her considering she was so small the basic's nails, bath, & maybe a few trim of hairs like I said she was still small! Being I am a first time owner of a dog I wasn't sure what I was suppose to do as for as nail trimming, ear hair, etc. I couldn't stand the fact that I would have done something wrong on my own and hurt my baby.. So I decided to take her to Petsmart. When I walked in I should have known something wasn't right, the workers there seemed so unprofessional! There was one dog getting its ear hair trimmed, and she was yelping, now I don't know if its suppose to be this way or not, but again being a first time owner I asked the woman "Is that dog ok?". She informed that the dog always done that and it was normal. I thought well they are groomers... I should have went with my gut feeling and walked back thru the door I came in. I explained to the woman what I wanted. she told me to leave "Madea" and come back in 2 hrs to pick her up. After I left I ran a few errands but something wasn't feeling right...after about an hour of kicking the feeling around , just decided to call and tell me that I was on my way back. The person that answered the phone told me ok that Madea was ready. When I went inside to get Madea I thought I was going to pass out! They had my baby on the FLOOR PLAYING with something that was suppose to be a toy, in a PILE OF DOG HAIR! other DOGS HAIR.... she handed her to me and they had put a bow in the top of her hair, the bow they used was the rubberband type, they had this bow so TIGHT on my Madea's head that when I went to touch the bow Madea pulled away from my hand and yelped which told me it was entirely too tight! I asked the woman why did they put that bow in, considering I didn't ask for one? She stated that all Yorkies wear bows! Again I said I didn't ask for one... The next thing this woman did was the WRONG thing for her to do! She reached out and RANKED the bow out of my dogs head!:mad::mad:... Madea yelped and when I looked she had a bald spot where that bow was! That was it for me, I kindly handed Madea to my husband, and I showed her how it felt to have hair ripped out of her head! Yes that move landed me a nice trip to the Metro Court house but I would do it again! when I went to court I told the judge what happened & that I would do it again! Needless to say I don't go to Petsmart anymore! and I bet you the next time that woman decides to pull a dogs hair she will remember what it feels like.... This situation is what landed me here at YT..... I decided that just because someone says they are groomers doesn't always mean they are the right groomer... Since I've found someone that lets me stay with Madea while she is working on her, but for anyone I suggest reading everything about the place your considering! The BBB should have information on major places like Petsmart.... |
I am so sorry for your loss. Unbelievable!! |
Get um where it HURTS. Money. Thanks for making us aware of this. Im so sorry this happened to your Baby. |
I have seen how these dogs in petsmart have been groomed. These groomers are unprofessional and very very rough. I have even emailed complaints about the Petsmart in Paramus NJ. One of the groomers literally yanked the dogs hair with scissors! And she also saw what she did and she looked at the other groomer and started laughing.. The dog was yelping and crying cause it hurt so much. i was looking at this when I was in line to pay. I went in there and yelled that the groomer should be fired for what she did to that dog.. I would never bring my baby to Petsmart I am so sorry that this happened, and they do not even sound sorry for what they did. Sue them so bad that they wont be able to even have a grooming section in Petsmart anymore. |
That is a horrible story and one of my worst fears... ...So I have never taken one of my yorkies to a groomer and never will. If you prefer a puppy/traditional terrier look to your yorkie, I have never had a hard time doing that myself with my guys. It may not be quite professional, but its close enough for my taste for sure. I admit, doing it yourself is a risk as well (particular attention around the eyes of course), but a much more manageable one in my opinion. If you have someone to help you and/or the proper equipment, it can be done consistently without a problem in my experience. I also agree with the many posters that if you do choose to go to a groomer, go to one that at least gives you the option of watching them work! I am very saddened by your loss. |
I am so sorry! I am so sorry that happened to you. I agree with Terri about making them responsible. I know they could not replace your Bella, the least they could do is compensate you for a purchase for another pet. I have heard bad grooming stories. This is the worst. After I tried 2 groomers, I decided to do it myself. No one would be as caring with your dog like you would. God bless, Please post with any news about Petsmart. I would also call main headquarters and cause a big stink! Jenny |
I am so sorry! I can't even believe this happened , I don't even know what to say, I would go bollistic, get a lawyer, and have them shut down! so sorry for your loss. |
