What a horrific event. Yes, they were responsible & need to be held responsible. I would also try to find out more about the owner of the Husky - has this dog bit other dogs before. Are these dogs not kenneled when they are not under the watch of the employees?

This & other horror stories I hear about groomers, including others that have died in a groomers care, are why I try to handle almost all the grooming myself.

Hugs to you. I'm glad you came to YT & I hope you will back. You sound like someone who loves her furbabies & is intelliegent & would offer a lot to our forum.

This is devestating. There are no words.

PLEASE seek legal counsel in this situation. Petsmart should be held 100% accountable for their absolutely irresponsible actions. Bella DID NOT have to die.

Hopefully one of our YT members who is in the appropriate field will post about the legalities and the way you should proceed at this time. I do know one thing- document EVERYTHING. If this were to go to trial it may be months from now when everything isn't so fresh. You don't have to do it now, but please journal everything you have been through the last two days, including names, times and dates.

I am praying for you- I cannot imagine your grief at this time. RIP Bella..

I am so sorry, I can't even imagine what you are going through. I don't understand why places like that allow vicious dogs. If this husky was so bad that the owner had to warn them not to allow it around other dogs it should not have been there.

I agree with everyone, this is a horrible situation where Petsmart not only took Bella's life but was careless about her owner's feelings. That is her baby and I'm sure she was very attached to Bella. As another YT member said, Petsmart should take full responsibility of what happened under their watch. I am very sorry and I will keep you & Bella in my prayers.

In Atlanta 2 animals were killed at the petsmart, and they covered it up. I will never take my dog there.

Oh and ps, they were beaten to death with a metal end of the hydrosurge and the women didn't get fired...and yet apparently they were known to have beaten animals before. So sad..commerical places I don't trust with my Mya

I have this large lump in my throat from reading all of this on your Bella..It is not the right time to say this.. but I too would get a lawyer.. all the money in the world will not bring back Bella.. but it might make these people realized what idots they are for allowing such a thing to happen..
Espeicaly sad is the owner of the husky saying to keep that dog away from smaller animals.. this is not the first huskey that has killed a yorkie... my heart breaks for you...
I had a vet kill a 5 year old.. and I was to numb to do anything.. and I did not have yt to turn to...wish I had of had some of these people to tell me what to do when my mind was not thinking clearly and I was so so devestated... please let them remember you and Bella... hugs girlie.. anne

A starting point might be to get policy of the groom center either via the web site or if there is one posted at the location. This certainly seems like something they should be held responsible for.

this is horrific and terrifying. I'm taking Vivian to be groomed for the first time Monday and this makes me nervous. Not at petsmart thank god. But I will now ask to see their pet safety policy. My goodness I'm so sorry for your loss and to hear of another in such a short period in time.

what a tragedy!! My heart hurts for your loss!!:cry: I have heard horror stories about petsmarts grooming. My n'bor took her Golden in for a shave and they almost severed his tail. :( They said they would cover the vet bills and offered her a bag of food! :eek: Like that was going to make it all go away??? GEEEEEEEZ!! I hope you get a lawyer!
I groom all my girls and if i didn\'t, i would never take them to a petco or petsmart for grooming. I don\'t know where they get the groomers in there but they must all be in training. They are horrible!! :mad:

I am so sorry for the loss of your little Bella. I have no words that will take away the pain. Just remember the time you had with Bella and keep that in your heart in the days to come!! Prayers to you and your family from Pennsylvania!! On Monday please call an Attorney and sue their assets off!!!

Wow this is the worst thing that I can imagine happening to any person.
How they allowed this to happen is just crazy.
You should definately take some action. I can not imagine how they had a Husky have access to a 2lb yokie.
