| Marking territory? Chase is 7 months old pretty much 100% potty trained. We brought him over to my friend's fancy apartment for a play date with her dachsund, Izzy. Well, he lifted his leg and peed three times near Izzy's bed. I felt so bad that he kept peeing on their rug! We've brought him to other people's houses before and he's never done this before. I guess he was marking territory. How do I stop this behavior?

| Pasquale is also 7 months old and is about 100% pee pad trained. However i notice that when we go anywhere that doesnt have HIS scent...he tends to mark. So now whenever i take him to people's houses...i put a belly band on him. People are usually appreciative too....they call me "the responsible mother"

| HEY! You stole my answer! LOL Bellybands. They will want to mark their territory (even if it isn't theirs) Fro has a bellyband whenever we leave the house to another home.

| Neutering will usually lessen marking in males, and sometimes stop it altogether. Both of my boys were neutered at 6 months, but before that were lifting their legs and marking like crazy. They both stopped completely after they were neutered.

| Romeo always marks @ other peoples houses. He can't control himself. We use belly bands.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I used to have this problem so when I went to other people's houses I watched him like a HAWK. Whenever I saw he was going to mark I corrected him quickly. I also started doing this in Petsmart as well. I would not let him do it. Only after a few corrections he did stop this. I have never tried the bellybands. He used to mark so much it drove me crazy. Now that he is fixed he has gotten alot better. |

| The belly bands sound like a great idea. It would be so embarassing to have them mess someone elses house.

| Thanks for the responses. Belly bands seem like a smart idea. No more peeing at other people's houses for Chase.
