I most definately would call someone. I've never bought a dog from a pet store. Some friends of mine bout a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel because they could tell he was sick and felt so sorry for him. They bought him and have given him a wonderful home. He's not much bigger the my yorkie Mollie just the longer legs. I think they average between 15 - 20 lbs. He is a sweet heart. I've told them several times that they are wonderful people rescuing him and they just looked at me with puzzlement, I told them you did rescue him. Anyway sorry to ramble. I think I would call the local humane society, police or spca because more than likely they purchased their puppies from a puppy mill. Last edited by shecass; 08-25-2005 at 07:19 AM. | |

| I don't believe it that these places are legal! It blows me away, especially with how much they charge! Who can afford that??? When I was looking for a breeder, every breeder that I spoke to never charged that much, not even close. And also why would you pay that amount when you don't know what the background is, health wise or anything?!?! Grrr....

| It is so rare to find a pet store with puppies where I live and I live in the Bay area of California. We used to have a mall pet store when I was younger and it closed down like 6 years ago, I never knew why, because I liked to go in their and look at the animals even though I couldn't afford one. Now I know why and I'm glad it's closed. The only place around here to get a dog or cat from is local breeders and shelters, and I think it should be that way everywhere. Put puppymills out of business!! But I think that animal pet shops closed down their physical stores and just opened them up online. I wish more people were informed about puppymills, then maybe there would be more action against them to close them down for good! |

| Hi fran i used to live in Oakley, CA not to far from you and your right I have NEVER seen a place like this before one man commented while i was there and said geez you gotta take a second mortgage just to get a pup. I went and bought some furniture and the girl that helped me said she used to sell puppies so of course i had to ask she said she worked at that place before. I asked her where do they get the dogs from she said they all come from different states because AZ will not allow breeding like that so i'm assuming it's from puppy mills. I'm going to try to find out who the owner is and talk to them (first i have to find the correct name of the place) i was so mad i just had to get out of there |
