| Yorkie parents beware Although there are many good breeders on the internet, one must be very careful when purchasing a yorkie that is going to be shipped to you. In other words out of state. There are some breeders that when you first contact are willing to send you as many pics and respond to your emails quickly. As soon as you pay them in full they "check out" and dealing with them is like pulling teeth. Considering the fact the most times you wil be paying well over 1k for a furrbaby, the least a breeder could do is be attentive to the buyer's needs. . I understand they have full time jobs besides being a breeder, but they have a responsibility to the buyer, makes me soooo angry |

| Sorry to learn about your bad experience. Did you get your Yorkie or are you still waiting?

| You do have to be carful!! Both selling and buying on the internet. People sometimes are not all what they say they are. When I sell puppies I send photos to the new owners once a week. Actually some buyers "check out" even after they send their money! I had one lady actually tell me she had two other dogs that are in the home all of the time (no kennel) and she was just looking for a pet. I researched her a bit and found out that she had TWO websites. One that sold cats on and one that sold three different breeds of dogs!! Needless to say she was returned her non-refundable deposit - I am SOOO happy that I added that part to my contract!

| My breeder just required a deposit and i didnt have to pay until the day before the pup was shipped to me!. She sent me pics and always got back to me in a day. I was very please with her and my puppy is the most social and loving pup ... I did do alot of research on different breeders that i found over the internet and some were just bad from the start... Hope you get your pup soon!

| That sounds great, maybe it was silly of me to pay all the money upfront. You know i'm kinda old fashioned thinking that people will reciprocate with good service. If you don't mind me asking, would you mind giving me your breeder's site or info? |

| Yikes, I guess we all need to be careful. I like coming here and being able to vent. We should dedicate a space for unscrupulous breeders, and sellers. It's not right these people are still out there scamming people out of money, time, and emotions. |

| There are a few scams going on presently on the internet. My brother is looking for a dog & we have run into quite a few. Theres the Nigerian scammers that say they will ship & only charge for the shipping fee (around $200). They always advertise a purebred. Say they are on a mission trip in S. Africa & have to find a home for their loving pet (yeh right). There are a few on Craigslist also. You really have to checkout the breeders. If it's too good to be true then it probably is. |

| There are a lot of scams on the internet. A "bait and switch" is a popular one. The breeder (usually a broker) posts pictures of puppies for sale, but the puppy you thought you were buying is not the puppy that was shipped to you. Often the pictures used on the website are stolen from forums like these. Bottom line is that you should never send $1,000 to a total stranger. Always get a puppy from a reputable breeder. |

| i sell my yorkies, after a application is approved, then i require a NR deposit $200, and then no other payment is required until the assigned pick up date. some people send payments though. i send weekly pics an updates with acheivements this year some stayed until christmas but i required payment by the orginal pick up date plus the boarding fee....im open to people stopping by once the pup has had its first shots. i try to be really attentive to people because i dont want them to feel the least bit uncomfortable because i know buying online would be scary. many people dont ask a lot of questions, they dont stop by to visit until its pick up time. i did feel bad this time because my computer crashed right after the last 2 were paid in full for and i couldnt sent any uodate i felt like i was doing them wrong. But thankfully they were really sweet and understanding i did have 2 that didnt work out and im really bothered by it they were two friends that worked together in and they both talked to me before the babies were even born. placed their deposits a little later then 1 was out of the country for months at a time, i questions her abilty once again to care for a puppy that she couldnt find time to pick up and she just said forget it, i was really concerned i tried talking to her again and she wouldnt respond to my emails and i asked if she would like 1/2 of her deposit back, no answer so i re-sold the baby and didnt refund anything the other girl had the puppy a week and complained that he was peeing in her house and that she wanted to sell him so i told her to bring him back to me, meeting my contracted terms now she wont return my emails and so forth. its gets a little frustrating at times, not to mention the drama some people bring to you. |

| It is so sad how many puppy scams there are. I always question a breeder if they sell online. Last edited by AMD; 12-30-2008 at 09:02 PM. |
