I couldn't imagine a sweeter dog then our 10 lb teapot, Boo. The larger Yorkies seem to be similar in attitude to the large draft horses, Gentle Giants. Gracie Ruth is 4 lbs, Yogi is 3 1/2lbs and Boo is so careful and gentle with both of them. He'll squat down on his front legs so that they can "attack and tear off his ears and rip out his throat". He is also the biggest cuddler!! Which the Momma really appreciates on these cold Texas nights.

Of course I forgot the pic... here is Boo's "twin" Maximus also the sweetest teapot with 12 lbs...

I love them all though. Some one said that when they are little pups they look just like a rottie (which I think is a sweet sweet dog) & a dobie....do you think THAT'S where they got their attitudes from?

Hi -

Cali is our new little Big Girl. She's 1 and a half years old and weighs 14 pounds. We got her from a rescue. We lost our first little girl ZheZhe back in August. ZheZhe weighed 10 pounds. She was a rescue also. Even though she's 14 pounds there isn't not an ounce of fat on her. She has a very pretty body and shape. And I think she knows it too !

Not sure where my message is - I guess I deleted it somehow when the pic came through. Anyway, I was saying that I agree with wvcher - I thought our Cody was abnormally big. He is about 13 pounds. He is adopted from someone who didnt want him any more. Even though the people told us he was a not I actually thought he was a Yorkie something mix. But the Vet said - Nope, he is all Yorkie. I think we just never hear much about the bigger ones. The first people didnt want him because he was too big. We think he is just right.

Your baby is sooo cute...he looks just like my Jack does now. Jack weighs 16.4 lbs. I need to download my pictures b/c he looks different now that he's older than the pic in my avatar. I agree with some of the others that posted here, my Jack loves to play a little rough. Also, he's not yippy like some of the smaller dogs. I just love him to pieces.

Buddy is 16.5 lbs and will 5yrs old this month. He was 6.5
when I bought him at 14 1/2 wks. Did I know he would get this
big? NO! But he's a wonderful pet and I love him to pieces.

Yes I was sure ours must have some other breed mixed in but the vet said no. I hope yours is happy now. That's sad that people would not want him because he was too big. It wasn't his fault.

I think you are right. I have a 10lb Yorkie myself. Pao is a great little guy and I love him lots. He doesn't even look big to me to begin with yet I have had a lot of people coming up to me and say that he is the biggest Yorkie that they have ever seen and if they get a Yorkie, they want a smaller one. I have no problem with people wanting tiny dogs and I am pretty open-minded when it comes to things like this but really too much emphasize is put on size especially when I hear stories about people giving up their dogs due to their sizes or their colours? That, I would never understand...

I have a friend who has had Yorkies for a long time and she told me that the original Yorkies back in England were in the 15 to 20 lb range and people just kept breeding them down because they thought the little ones were cuter. I guess every once in a while one in the litter will revert back to the original size. Sometimes people will ask if my 14 pounder is a Silkie.

Honey please, is he healthy? That's all that matters...my bryan is 11months and he's already 10lbs..I thought he was only gonna be 5lbs but I'm actually glad he's bigger because he rough houses with the dogs at the dog run and I don't worry about him getting hurt, breaking a leg, kidney problems, hypo glycemic and all the problems that come from having the tiny yorkies
..And he's cute as all getout! What I've discovered is that Yorkies come in all different sizes and colors...Enjoy your teapot
