what should i do!? we are buying a yorkie in a couple of weeks and my neighbours have a big dog that is sometimes aggressive he already jumped in front of me while i was walking in the road and looked like if he was ready to attack me... but the owners got out because they heard his barking... he is never attached and he comes to my house and yard sometimes....what if he decides to come while me and my yorkie are outside? |
and the dog's part rottweiler and part german shepherd |
Never go out of your house with your Yorkie off a harness!!! Never let your Yorkie out of your site!!! If you see a big dog coming towards you, pick up your Yorkie and go the other way!! |
they even have 2 aggressive dogs...i just havent seen one of them for a while |
but the last time i did and before that they were always together....so what happenes if they both attack? |

Maybe you should just stay in the house. Have you or your parents ever talked to your neighbors about the two aggressive dogs? Any leash laws in your area? Contact animal control. |
i would love to go talk to the neighbours but they are also aggressive due to lots of drugs... and whats animal control? spca? |
First off.. I have to plead that you do not blame the agressivness on the breed of dog. The owners seem irresponsible and the dog you are describing sounds unstable, not viscious. TWo completely different things. Keely was attacked 2 months back by a Large huskey and a Goat. We were in the back yard and she was attached to her lead and the dog came around the side of my house and jumpeed her while my back was turned (I was building agility eqiupment) Luckily the only thing that got hurt was me and the HUskey and goat, my girl was fine. I got rammed by the goat and I think i may have given both animals brain damage. They were always off leash and allowed to roam the streets and i shouldnt have turned my back even for one second. My point to the story is. Call the authorities because this dog could potentially hurt you or your future baby. Do NOT wait for something bad to happen before calling like i did. If something isnt done by the authorities kick up a fuss and they will listen. YOu just have to try. Trust me, i wasnt taken serious at first until i threated to turn to the local newspapers ad tell them how incompitent our police force is. They werent long seizing the animals from the rechid owners and finding them both great homes wher ethey could excell. |
I am sure you must have leash laws, loose dog laws in Canada. |
SPCA's cant do much about it. If the dog has shlter, food and water, the spca cant do anything really. I volunteer at the spca in my area and they told me to call the cops. Cuz we couldnt do anything about it. |

and i know ..but i dont know where to call and what to say or do....the dogs never attacked anyone yet...they keep running after people...going in the garbages ...barking mad and people..they have signs that they would attack ..but the owners always get out of their house before they do |
Do you have a fenced in backyard or area where your baby can run free. Do not walk out in the front even on a leash. You will never be able to protect your baby and yourself if attacked. You are your babies keeper. You can control the situation. It's up to you to make sure your baby is safe. Don't wait for those other dogs to attack. Keep your little guy maybe on the other side of your property, But make sure you have a fence. I have a stockade fence so they can't even see eachother out there. :aimeeyorkCOCO :aimeeyorkPEBBLES :aimeeyorkTRIXIE |
it scares me to know that we are getting a small dog and they own a big aggressive attitude dog nest door...they are not predictable...and i wasnt sure if he was going to attack me in the road or not... i was frozen and i couldnt move |

Doesnt matter if hes attacked or not. If he is Offleash, getting into peoples trash, showing gressive behavior and charging at people, he is a disturbance, and the police have to do something about it, it is there job. This dog seems unpredictable. JUst tell them that you cannot go outside without fear of being attacked. They have to do something. |
so i call the cops? |
You seem MUCH younger than 17 years old. Maybe you should talk to your parents and put the idea of a puppy on hold until you can do more research and put up a fence and have a safe environment BEFORE you get the puppy. Just by your posts, I can tell you have done no for-thought into buying this 800.00 puppy. |

The puppy is 2 weeks old. She is doing the research now. She is trying more so then most people do. Give the girl a break. |
nope....just never got a small dog before and never called the cops for a dog...only a car accident...never had a fence at home or anything |
Start by contacting animal control and the police. If they can't help, they can at least point you in the right direction. Keep speaking up and don't let up! Ever heard the saying, the squeaky wheel gets the grease? Okay, I know I am going to get heat for this, but I'm gonna say it anway. If I felt unsafe to be outside weather with my little doggie or not because of an aggressive dog, I would carry some kind of a weapon with me, even if it was just a ball bat. No way is anyone or anything attacking me on my own property. Finally, I agree with the other posters about fences. I have a 6 ft tall privacy fence for reasons like this. I want my babies, skin and fur, to be safe and to be able to run around in their backyard without worry. |
If you wont do anything about the neighbors dog by calling authorities, Then you shouldnt put the puppies life in jepredy. If you feel uncomfortable calling the cops. Get one of your parents to do it. |

I've heard some people carry pepper spray or mace for protection. Small dogs look like a rodent or rabbit to a big dog, and sometimes they will go after it instinctively even if they aren't mean. Don't ever put your puppy in a position to be harmed. |
If you are totally unwilling to call the authorities or do something about this dog you shouldnt get a dog. YOU'll be putting its life in danger. If you dont wanna do anything about the agressive dog and are persistant about getting a dog and putting its life in danger i can only tell you 1 thing. Im like 5'2. I fought off a 200 lb Mal Husky and a 50 lb (very aggresive) goat. Its not impossible. Once the adrenaline gets pupming and the momma bear instinct comes out, if a scout was watching you would get a full soccer sholarship to the college of your choice. Because you can kick the Crapoutta anything standing in your way. BUt i do not suggest you leave it up to chance and attemp to avoid the dog in hopes he wont find you or attack. Cuz its irresponsible. Im just saying, fighting off a large dog at your height, isnt impossible either. But it should be your last resort. |
