Sad sad news I only introduce us the other day. My puppy Bebe passed away on Christmas day. The lady we were going to buy her off told me last night. Lots of tears here. I hadn't even got her home, she was due to come to her new home in a couple of weeks. I called her Bebe because i thought it would be easy for my daughter to say her name, if my daughter was going to speak in the future....my daughter is non-verbal autistic. Now I feel I would like to rename Bebe 'Holly' as she died on Christmas day. I will be getting another puppy and i will call her Bebe but i wont forget Holly.

I'm very sorry for the pup's loss, but my pragmatisim is kicking in: why did the pup die? How are the other puppies in the litter? Is it a genetic problem? The answers to the above questions are important. Furthermore, in many ways, it may have been fortunate that the puppy died before you got her home. You would have had unexpected vet bills, and it would have been absolutely horrible if your daughter had bonded to the pup and THEN the pup died. You would never have been able to explain that to her. Death is difficult to explain to any child, let alone one with autisim. R.I.P., little Holly ... but my hopes are with you so that you get a happy and HEALTHY puppy in the near future.

Thank you everyone for your replies . It must have been harder for the couple who had the puppy, they said they had grown attached to the puppy . Holly was one of 5 puppies born to there own cherished dog. I saw the mother and the aunt when i visited and they were very happy dogs. She said Holly died of an infection and the vet said they had done everything they could have and that it was one of those things that sometimes happens. She said the other puppies are fine.
