				   | WOW #1) She said that she wanted to breed *maybe* NOT BECAUSE SHE WANTS SELL THE PUP'S.. ***Maybe now that you all have pointed out "SO NICELY" that maybe it won't be safe she will reconsider or check more with her vet. #2) She said that the stray dogs were about the same size as Prissy, just a different breed. If everyone is going to jump down throats, please read post and make sure you are reading correctly OP* Please check with your vet on Monday after the holidays. I am trying to remember, but I think that the "tie" (after dogs mate the male "ties" to the female to help ensure pregnancy..where he can't release from the female so his penis is "stuck" inside due to glands I think) anyway the 'tie" lasts about 15-20 minutes. But better safe than sorry, a dog pregnancy is hard to tell for about 40 days and then you only have about 23 left until delivery. So again, get the tests done and make sure to watch her so carefully. I have seen males chew thru walls to get to the female that is in heat.

i debated about breeding milu and keeping the puppies as well when she was 7 months old (spay time). i posted in the breeders section and emailed some breeders to get more information. and most of the feedback i got was not to breed because of her small size. my vet actually didn't think she was too small to breed. just said that maybe need c-section. and less room for anything to go wrong. i ended up deciding to spay her because i didn't want to take any risks. a breeder told me about taking the mom to the emergency room because complication with labor and ended up losing the mom and the whole litter!!!! hearing that is what convinced me not to take the risk. some other people will have diff. opinions of course. my neighbor wants to breed her 3lb maltese, and i said to her 'way to small!' and neighbor said that the mom was 3lbs and had 2 litters no problems...so she feels that it's fine...(i would be too scared if everything was not fine...) another deciding factor for me was that some people told me that the doggie's temperament changes after they have puppies. so i also didn't want that to happen. i wish you good luck with your baby girl. i really hope she isnt' pregnant. (you can write a list of all your questions regarding breeding her,so you can make sure to cover them when you go see your vet) and you can also read the advice i got from the breeders about spaying or breeding a small yorkie: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...e-95-sure.html | |
