| Hello all! ![]() My sweet little got spayed this morning and she also had 3 baby teeth extracted. She is 4.5lbs and 7 months old. I am actually much more comfortable than I thought I was going to be because I have an AMAZING vet (and they adore Bella). I prayed over her before she had her surgery and I know she will be fine......BUT...(there's always a but isn't there. lol ) I was wondering does anyone have any special advise about what to expect when I bring her home this evening? From what I understand she can eat (and she should because she hasn't had anything since 10pm yesterday! ) and she can't run or play. I also understand that she may be extremely groggy and sleep a lot. Also, one of my friends told me that she may revert back to some of her early puppy habits (such as not using her puppy pads to use the restroom). Is there anything else that you think I need to know? As always, I do appreciate any suggestions that you can provide! ![]()

| oh good luck! I'm sure she will do great! Sophie was spayed about 12 days ago, so I'm still remembering it all. Your vet should send you home with lots of instructions, I received a sheet with all I needed to know on it. I know that you can feed her a little bit of food, not the usual amount in case she gets sick. Plan on lots of cuddling, I think that helped me more than her.... |

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | Hoping Bella is now home and resting comfortably. When Roxie was spayed a few months ago she was veru sleepy yhe first night and ate a little. The next day she slept a lot but ate more. By the third day she was pretty much back to normal. Ikept a onsie on her to keep her away from the stitches.

| I hope she is home and doing well. How many days do they need you there with them constantly after the surgery? Mine is only 4 months old and I haven't done this since 7 years ago with my cat, my vet said 6 months for my little girl.

| My Sophie is getting spayed tomorrow, what a Christmas gift for my baby. I trust my Vet 100 percent and she promised me they would take good care of Sophie. I am still a little nervous

| I had my Lily spayed about 2 months ago. She had to keep a cone over her head for 2 weeks. That was the most difficult thing for us because she couldn't fit through her doggy door to go potty on her own. The suggestion about the onesie is great!!! As long as she can't get to the stitches. I remember Lily wanting to scratch it when she was healing....but she couldn't get to it with the cone over her head! I gave her an antibiotic 2 times a day when she came home from the vet. The first day she was more tired....we gave her lots of love, she didn't eat as much. The next day I added some warm water to her dry dog food and let is soften and she loved it! I hope that Bella is feeling ok this evening....give her some extra love

| Hello everyone ![]() I just wanted to thank all of you for your prayers and for your great suggestions. I was keeping up with all of them on my Blackberry while I was cuddling with my little angel. She is doing wonderful! She has been eating and drinking and she has been walking well. The only thing is that she wants to lick her little boo boo. But thanks to your ideas we have figured out how to prevent that. Thanks everyone! That was a REALLY good idea! Bella has been trying to lick at her stiches a little...only when her medicine is wearing off. My mom made her a onesie today and she will be wearing it tonight. Thank you so much for the suggestion. ![]() Quote:

I'm amazed that little Lily was able to tolerate hers for that long. She's such a little trooper. And I used your suggestion about adding warm water too her food and she has been eating VERY well. She's such a little piggy

| I am so happy to hear that Bella is doing better! I wish that I would have thought of using a onesie when Lily was spayed.....she would have enjoyed that much more than the cone!! My Rosie is pregnant right now with her first litter due in mid January. We plan on having her spayed after we home the new pups. I will definetely have her wear a onesie instead of the Cone! Happy Holidays!
