Yorkie Talker | help is DeZigner in labor???????????? My yorkie name Dezigner is pregnant. I think that she may be due really soon. She is a big yorkie weighing in at 10 pounds. Today I had her groomed and cut short and I noticed that her nipples have gotten bigger. There is no milk yest but I notice movement in her stomach. Does that mean she is about due? I took her to her vet last week and she confirmed she was indeed pregnant but she said that her xray machine was being serviced and I need to bring her back next week. Now the problem is that I dont know when she got pregnant. I know that I saw some faint blood stains on the carpet in the beginning of October but I didn't think she was in heat. There is male yorkie in our home also. What kind of signs can I look for to tell if she is going into labor. Right now she is playing like normal but she is also resting a lot. Yesterday she kept going under my bed every chance she got and this is something that she never do. She is eating but not like she normally do. I have noticed that her stomach is really warm. I need all the advice I can get. |

| I would say to take her back to the vet as soon as possible and get her due date confirmed. A good vet should be able to give you an idea about when the babies are due, even without a machine. Hope it all goes well, and be careful she doesnt get pregnant again too soon, with an unspayed male in the house...you know what these men are like!! |

| Are you READY? That is almost more important than is SHE ready. There are a lot of things you need to have ready for her if you hope to have a successful whelping and rearing of the babies. Whelping boxes, a safe area where your male will not have access to the puppies, heating pad, whelping supplies, like dental floss for tieing the cords, SO MANY things and so little time. I would suggest that you check out this website Canine Reproduction Video and Book on Breeding and Whelping dogs by Debbie Jensen for dog breeders and Whelping Supplies needed to deliver puppies. and click on all the links about whelping puppies. And I would do it asap, you do not have time to spare. If she was in heat in October, she is due VERY soon! Good luck and let us know how it goes

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Did you go to that Debbie Jensen website Sunnie provided? It the the most helpful and informative whelping website I've found. I would estimate that if she was in heat at the beginning of October she would be due within a week or so, but if she's already looking for a place under the bed it could be sooner. Do NOT let her have them under there! Close off her access to the bedroom if you have to. Just because you have a whelping box doesn't mean she'll use it; my girl chose to have her pups in a corner on the side of the couch. After the pups were born, then we moved the new family to the box. When she starts labor she will have a temperature drop to about 98degrees, she may lose her appetite, and active labor will have her digging (nesting) and shivering. I hope that you not only have a whelping box, but any and all other whelping supplies that you may need & a heating pad to help keep those newborn pups warm. The whelping area should be a quiet place without any disturbances or distractions......this is when the male should be kept away from mom & the newborns. Good Luck & keep us posted

Yorkie Talker | Today DeZigner was jerking her body and kicking her back legs and running in circles a little bit. She went under my bed then behind my big screen tv. Finally she started digging in a blanket that my son left on the floor. Now she is sleeping but im not sure if she is comfortable because she keeps moving to different places on my bed. She is also licking her vulva a lot. Should I move my male dog into another room. He keeps sniffing her from the back and my cat keeps sniffing her also. What's that about? |

| I see you post was yesterday and you probably have babies by now, but YES, keep your male away from her now. Him being there will distress her more

Yorkie Talker | no puppies yet!!!! I noticed that her stomach has seem to dropped low. She is getting really big. She is starting ti dig in different spots of the house but she still refuse to go in her whelping box which I cant seem to understand. My daughter came running to me because she said DeZigner was shaking really hard which I didn't see. I don't have a thermometer to check her temp and also I cant take her for an xray until Friday. She is lazy at times but when the doorbell rings she jumps up and run to the door. She chases my male yorkie Denim around the house. She is eating very little. Her vulva looks larger also |

| Gosh, I saw from your other posts that this was her first heat and not an expected breeding. She's pretty young, and may need some help. Hope you are able to be with her to help her if she needs it. If you need more specific help, you might get more by posting in the Breeders Section. Good luck, and be sure to update, cause we'll all be waiting to hear how it goes.
