Did you go to that Debbie Jensen website Sunnie provided? It the the most helpful and informative whelping website I've found. I would estimate that if she was in heat at the beginning of October she would be due within a week or so, but if she's already looking for a place under the bed it could be sooner. Do NOT let her have them under there! Close off her access to the bedroom if you have to. Just because you have a whelping box doesn't mean she'll use it; my girl chose to have her pups in a corner on the side of the couch. After the pups were born, then we moved the new family to the box. When she starts labor she will have a temperature drop to about 98degrees, she may lose her appetite, and active labor will have her digging (nesting) and shivering. I hope that you not only have a whelping box, but any and all other whelping supplies that you may need & a heating pad to help keep those newborn pups warm. The whelping area should be a quiet place without any disturbances or distractions......this is when the male should be kept away from mom & the newborns.
