| ![]() I have asthma/allergies and just wanted to let you know no dog is hypo allergenic, no matter what anyone tells you. If your fiance is allergic to dander, a yorkie will still have dander. Of course they have much less dander than other dogs -- but depending on his level of allergies it could still affect him. Also, allergies worsen over time usually so although he may not react to a yorkie on first meeting, if dander builds in your home the allergies could become more severe. I would suggest getting an allergy screening done (if he hasn't already) to see what level of allergic reaction he has to dogs. I'm not trying to dissuade you from getting a yorkie as I know many have no problems, but it really all depends on the person! Good luck! |

| ![]() I am allergic to dog "dander" and cat "hair". My two yorkies and one toy poodle do not bother my allergies. However, our labs when we had them did. I also had a bichon (now gone to the Rainbow Bridge) that did not bother me. So for me I am okay with yorkies, bichons, and poodles. I understand that schnauzers are also non-allergenic. |

| ![]() I forgot to add that I have HEPA air filters in every room of my house running all the time. It really helps. Also we have no carpeting so I "used" to use throw rugs. However, the throw rugs are the same as wee wee pads to my two baby yorkies so I had put them away for now. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() My youngest son and I, both have allergies, mine are environmental allergies, my son's is to animals, but he has not have any problems with Max, at first I kept Max from my son's room, or his bed, he would wash his hands after playing with Max, but little by little we realized that he was fine, besides, who is going to get a boy to wash his hands that often? ![]() One thing thou, he (Max) gets a bath every week, and we vacuum everyday, not only helps with the allergies, but with the fleas as well.

| ![]() I have dog allergies as well. I can't be around my brother's golden for more than a few hours without coming home a swollen drippy mess. But I have never had issues with my two. It might be a good idea to keep the pup trimmed short. I find that they shed less. And I do groom mine on my own. It costs about 60 bucks to get them both professionally done. And depending on where you live, it costs more. Best of luck! Hope you find the dog of your dreams!

| ![]() well, I hope I can help you but where you live is way different than me. I live in Texas. We have a mobil groomer who comes to the house. They charge me 35.00 per yorkie I have (2). You, might look in the phone book and see what is available. Hope this helps Cheryl/Jack/Bella ![]() |

| ![]() I am VERY allergic to dogs & especially cats.....I can't deal with cats at all. My allergies are Horrible! I get the works....stuffy/runny nose, sneezing, itchy-watery eyes, & I get asthma triggered from allergies. Cats, I can't do anything about.....no matter what medications I have taken or whatever procedures, I just can't take them. They make me feel really miserable. Dogs are not as bad for me, but I still get allergy attacks pretty bad. We just got Rocky, our 9 week old Yorkie, on Wednesday & I have to say that it's not that bad! Yes, Yorkies are hypoallergenic dogs, but that does not mean that allergies won't be triggered by them. Sometimes, he still causes me to get asthma, but I have my inhaler ready in my purse all the time. What I have been doing since bringing Rocky home is take 1 Clartin a day....this definitely has helped a lot & makes my allergies not so bad. I am learning to adjust to them....Rocky definitely means so much more to me.....I don't care how I feel or if I need to take medicine for the rest of my life...he is like my own child & I absolutely love him. Best of luck to you & your fiance! Let us know if you guys do get a Yorkie!!!

| ![]() I do hate to say this ... my friend has always been allergic to dogs, and she is just as allergic to my yorkies as she is to any fur shedding dog. Its sad. ![]()

| ![]() My husband is seriously allergic to almost everything, specifically Dogs and Cats. He knew I wanted a Yorkie so bad..he agreed to give it a shot and with the help of his allergist, we are happy to say that we can live with our Yorkie without causing my husband serious allergy problems. We are able to do this by bathing our Yorkie once a week, we have 2 HEPA air Filters in the house, one in the bedroom and one in our living room where we spend most of our time in. We also have allergen pillow covers and we vaccum often with a HEPA vacuum cleaner. My husband also goes to the Doc weekly to get allergy shots. It has been a blessing to be able to have our little one at home despite my husband's allergies. My husband is able to sleep, hold and play with our Yorkie without issues. Only time my husband gets reactions is when our little one gives him kisses. My husband immediately gets numb in the spot. My husband doesn't mind...he loves kisses from our baby. ![]() |

| ![]() I think it really just depends on the person. I have horrid allergies, I can't be around most cats and dogs or I'm wheezing, eyes are itching, sneezing and nose is running. I chanced it though and got Lilly. She doesn't bother me at all. I snuggle in her fur, give her kisses, let her give me kisses and I'm 100% fine. However, if I pet my mom's cat or anything, it kills me. Lilly does bother my mom's allergies a bit though. My mom has EXTREME allergies though, she can't wear hardly any make-up and she's allergic to several other things. I think I just lucked out and Lilly was meant especially for me. ![]()
