Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | We have a Stalker.... there he is..... He is a Coopers Hawk, which is one of the meanest Haws around. They hunt for the kill not to eat like most hawks do. He is BIG you can kinda get a feel for how big he is by the wires he is sitting on. Thats like a bunch of 3 wires running along my back yard. His Talons are almost too big to sit on it. I think he was more stalking my squirrels. I have 3 that live in my yard and 2 next door that come over and play/eat everyday. Tannar and I watched closely and my 3 squirrels packed together when Mr. Hawk was here. The biggest Squirrel Heavy D, he was the one running and jumping infront of the Hawk trying to distract him. He is alos the one that tourments Diggy. He LOVES diggy, prolly cuz diggy plays the chase game with him and falls for his tricks. Bella wont. She used to but after 2 years of his games she wont even look his way.

| We had one of those too - I called the city and said it was trying to attack my dogs - which is was not at that point, but I did not want to be too careful and they came and caught it or did something. I have not seen it in weeks. Maybe you can call your local animal control - hawks like that should be in the suburbs - they belong in the woods.

| Paula, how scary for you AND your furbabies both doggie and squirrel. I certainly hope that Mr. Cooper Hawk moves on - perhaps to Arizona where the weather is nice and warm. |

| I'm glad you are keeping an eye on him. He looks dangerous but I feel sorry for all of the wild animals that used to have homes and hunting grounds before the suburbs crowded them out. Sigh. If you ever get the chance make a video of that squirrel playing his tricks. I think they are the most entertaining creatures! We used to have one in our back yard that would come down the tree and stay just out of reach of our dog. He would chatter away and torment poor Ivan. He knew exactly how high Ivan could jump. When he felt safe he would steak across the yard and have Ivan chase him. He'd end up in the tree just out of reach. Ivan want to kill him sooooooo bad! |
