| Advice on ears. Hi! This is my first post on YT and I'm looking for some advice/info on my puppy's ears. Bentley is almost 4 months old and his ears don't stick up at all. I've clipped the hair on about the top half of his ears and it hasn't helped. I've thought about taping them but he also scratches his ears a lot. I don't notice any kind of odor coming from them. Any information would help. Thanks! I forgot to mention... I don't know if it makes a difference but he is a somewhat bigger yorkie. He was a little over 5 pounds around 12 weeks... the breeder said he will probably get to about 10 pounds. I thought maybe bigger ears would be more difficult to get to stand.. like I said any info will help! Last edited by akushion; 12-02-2008 at 08:34 AM. |

Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | do you have pictures of his ears? Some ears are too large and the leather is too thick and may not stand like my Kioko...but taping them does help....what i do is shave them front and back...then tape them from 3 to 5 days at a time...take off the tape for a day then if the fall back down then i re tape them...hope that helps... btw welcome to YT

| My biewer is almost 6 mos. and is not hardly 2 lbs. I just bought a wahl clipper the other day and shaved the outsides of them, and then instead of wrapping tape around, that was hurting her when taking off, I just took some tape, cut it small, held her ear up straight, and wrapped the tape flat against her ear around the the front of the ear and put the ends of the tape together. So far so good(that was yesterday). I will leave the tape on for 4 days, and then take it off, after that if they stay up, that's great, if they start drooping again, I'll do it again in intervals of 24 hours. |

| What everyone is saying is true take all the hair front and back off then i use blue paint tape.. in the middle of the ear lay tape flat on the back of ear and keeping it flat wrap the tape around.. press the tape close and leave it on for a week... take and snip up the back of ear and take tape off if it falls put it right back up.. I know a show breeder that says you are good to go until they get around 8 months old... just remember to keep the ear shaved until they have been standing for a few months..good luck |

| Juicy's 7 months old (yesterday) and her ears wont stay up at all. I've cut the hair off and taped them for a couple of days and still as soon as I took the tape off they came down again. I just learned to live with them they are adorable anyway and thats what makes Juicy... Juicy.
