I don't believe they will ever outgrow distruction of stuffed toys.
Buddy will rip any stuffed toy apart with glee if he get's ahold of one.
He will be 5!

My daughter bought him a tuff toy made out of fire hydrant hose
material. Boy was it tough. No way was he going to get that open.
Yea, right. Within 15mins the end was open and the cotton coming
out! That was the last stuffed toy he got and that was last year.
Laytex only . The hard rubber ones he won't even look at.
