| My yorkie licks everything! My yorkie, Chico, just turned two years old. He has this habit of licking everything: the leather couch, the floor, the comforter of whatever bed he is laying on, the rugs, hands, feet, whatever clothing he can get his paws on. THe list goes on and on. Should I be worried? It seems so weird that he licks so much! he's a cutie =] http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a97...r907/Chico.jpg |

| Rex licks a lot, too. I've figured out that he's licking his paws and everything around his paws gets wet in the process.

| So I have nothing to worry about? It's almost like when he starts licking, he can't stop. It's pretty funny. I just wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong with him. I actually googled it and I got some weird answers. Some people said that when a dog licks, they're trying to get the vitamins they lack, another person said it was because the dog needed to be fixed (but Chico is fixed). Im just curious as to why he licks so much! hahaha |

| Katy Lou licks my leather couch and even the metal baby gate we have at the front door. She even licks the weeds and grass outdoors, which I hate. Sometimes she eats the weeds and is sick to her stomach. I don't know how to stop this and I feel bad because she loves to be outside. |

| Nothing to worry about, no! My two girls are the same, my Chi, Ellie, will actually lick a patch the sie of about 10cmx10cm on our bed if I let her! lol Not sure why they do it, but some dogs are 'licky'. Especially toy breeds I've noticed. I have maaaany friends whose Chi's are the same, dont worry! Jess |

| Both my boys are lickers, but my shih-poo is worse. He licks everything. I've been trying to break him from trying to lick my face. He licks constantly. Every time I try to pet him he has to lick me back.

Thor's Human Donating Member | It may be fine, but if your sweetie is actually eating plants, beware -- that does signify something is missing in the diet, or maybe he's sick. A dog that licks you is signifying submission. I was socializing a nervous chihuahua at a shelter today and she basically shellaqued both my hands with her spit. Licking can also be a nervous habit, like a person biting their nails. It is a bit nuerotic, so you might want to check if your baby seems nervous or bored. If not, just chalk it up to one of those doggy quirks. |

| i have a theory about this: our lab licks the new bamboo flooring and carpets. i think it's because there is a smell there where maybe someone brushed something that might be tasty. for example, food on their muzzles or a cookie crumb, etc. and i hate it when they eat grass too. always leads to a clean up on aisle 4!! |

| Nervous Nellie, Barky Boo, Hyper Hannah and LICKY LOU My 9 year old 8 lb Yorkie, Chloe who is a licker as well. Has been licking since I can remember...EVERYTHING. About 6 months ago she came down sick..vomiting and diahrea with some blood in both. Fever To the Vet she went. Had her for 2 days, Iv's and antibiotics. Blood count was elevated as well. Now when this happened she became like paralyzed in the back end. Vet ran barium tests, xrays, blood tests and to no avail. She was better in a couple days and came home and continued on antibiotics for 10 days. 3 months later the same thing, not as bad, but very similar. Back to the vet. More tests and nothing. She seems to get it more and more frequent. She is an awesome loving dog, but is very neurotic and OCD. She is the alpha dog. I also have a 3 year old 4lbs Morkie Mia and she is the opposite end of the spectrum...mellow Mia. Then I have a hound dog, Hooter who comes in just at night. Chloe is the boss of him as well. When I take them out to go potty she has to make sure that she goes on top of where they have went. She even uses the cat box in the garage to make sure she marks it as well. The past few times I have treated her myself.... Pedialyte, Kefer and dog aspirin. Usually in 24 hours she is better. She always has a good appetite until the episodes. I make all of their treats and 90% of their food. Thought maybe the boughten dog food was the problem. I have tried all of the recommended expensive ones. I am at a loss. I have scoured my home for any kind of chemicals. None. I have gone to all natural everything. I supply my house cleaners and floors are done with vinegar and water. |
