Personally, I like Lola a lot better. She looks exactly like my teapot yorkie Ollie in the face (same longer face, tilted ears) and he's a complete sweetheart and very intelligent/confident, despite his sometimes pensive expression. Lola does look less like a "standard" yorkie though. Ultimately it's your decision. I disagree with people who say you should always wait until 12 weeks to get a puppy though. I got mine at 8 weeks and he's perfectly well-adjusted. I actually think his young age helped him bond to me very quickly. I'm not saying waiting until 12 weeks is detrimental or anything, I just think an 8 week old puppy is old enough to leave its mother. 6 weeks though? No way. My parents got both their Golden pups at 6 weeks and didn't have any problems, but I can see very easily how they might have. I do think it's better to see the breeder's compound, the parents of the pup, and the general conditions the pup was raised in, but it sounds like you've done your homework. Good luck in picking your pup. |
I would go with the new puppy, if it were me, she has more of the face I prefer. It is a long time commitment and I think you will always regret not getting the one YOU prefer. |
Personally I don't think good breeders pose their dogs with things like necklaces and Christmas ornaments, it looks like the photos have been photoshopped, and they may be pictures of just any dog. You need to see the dog in person, and how they have been raised. If you really are concerned with the looks you need to see the parents. Puppies go through all sorts of different stages, and just feeling a little sleepy one day, will get you totally different pictures. Puppies only stay puppies for a short period of time, to know what it will look like full grown, for the next 14 years, look at the parents. |
We'll I think they are both adorable. You can't go by a puppy picture, And I had to see my puppies parents. Who knows the first puppy may be the most loving little thing. They change so much as adults you can't go by the look or the picture. :) But do what your heart wants. You might go with the really cute one but he's a handful. You never know what you will get....hehe.. I just love em all. :p |
I think that both puppies are adorable...Yorkies can look very different depending on the ears and their size. |
If you're not absolutely in love with Lola and your heart isn't it in, I would go with a pup that you do fall in love with! Its hard to just go by pictures and what info the breeder can give you, but after all it is all you have to go by. Try not to rush yourself into making a decision, these things take time. Heck I've been looking for my next dog since August and haven't found her yet! Whatever dog you do choose, I'm sure you'll love with all your heart! Good luck!!:D |
Thanks everyone! She came back from the VET and all is healthy!! Yea!! I like the ideas of seeing the parents and she will send me the photos--she will take them now so I can see what they look like today. We will see what I decide......:animal36 |

good luck to you! but i think it's a win/win situation! you ARE getting a yorkie after all. they are the cutest!!!:animal36 |
Go with your heart. My personal opinion is that dogs with attitudes are excellent! They are fun and exciting... they are stubborn but they are a challenge. Molly and Izze have attitudes and they are so fun! But if you don't like that, and you want a happy-go-lucky pup---that is good. go with YOUR preference. Both are very cute pups. |
I think the new pup looks almost identical to Lola in the first picture. She may look like Lola in the second picture in a few weeks. The fact that the breeder is licensed with the USDA is not a good thing, but you seem ok with that fact. I would really examine the pictures of the parents, but how will you know if they are pictures of the actual parents? Also, most anyone who mentions they got their puppy earlier than 12 weeks (especially shipped), will get some comment about the age. It's just how things are. Many reputable breeders will not ship their pups until 16 weeks, and many more until they reach a certain weight. |
I would highly recommend inquiring what type of health/genetic testing the breeding pair has had and the puppies also. |

I would also just browse around the for sale section here. There are many reputable breeders with gorgeous puppies, that way you can compare what well-bred yorkie pup looks like. |

TOUCHE, Its a rough and scary flight for a 16 week can you imagine a 12 week ! I like Lola because she is older and the difference between a 9 week and a 12 week is a huge difference in Yorkies. You already have a bond with her because you named her. Why dont you fly and check out the breeder for yourself. You can even bring her home yourself......I think thats what you need to do to ease you mind......I like Lola..... |
i understand this must be hard..I could see regrets either way, while I think the second puppy is precious and has more of the yorkie look, I would feel guilty for giving up the pup ive called mine for so long cuz shes not as cute...I couldnt imagine not taking my pup who I have guaranteed a ppup from that litter would be mine from the day she was concieved(weird coincidence, I contacted my breeder the day the mom was tied about purchasing a pup from her!)Its tough, but be careful my breeder wont ship her pups ever, esp that young...good luck with the decision, youve done your homework and thought this thru so I think youll be happy with either pup! |

Oh I had a sneak peek at those babies on another forum. Aren't they the sweetest? |
Hi I am new here, I hope you will respect my opinion... First I'd like to say my heart would go with the 1st pup, simply because you guaranteed her a home for weeks and weeks, prepared for her and loved her .. You saved a home for her, and they saved her for you... she could have possibley been chosen to go to another family if it weren't for her being saved for you and that makes me sad. She could have had a wonderful family already... Secondly, she may turn out looking like lola when she is Lola's age. I think that she will, she has similar features and looks a lot like her and a lot of pups coming from the same breeder tend to have similar features. So you may be acting to fast, she may turn out to be less cute than Lola you never know... so this I don't think should be your deciding factor... Lastly , I will say that although these are my opinions GO WITH YOUR HEART AND YOUR CONSCIENCE or you will NEVER be able to live with the decision you make. You will always wonder ... and I think it is reasonable to say that you are having an inner conflict going on or this question wouldn't be being asked. Thanks for listening , whichever pup you decide to go with I am sure you will give it a great home and love it no matter what! |

You should go with your heart when choosing which dog you want to adopt. Everybody has an opinion on which dog you should adopt. Just like how everybody is trying to pick which dog Obama should adopt. I think adopting a dog is a personal choice, because you are the one that has to take care of the dog. You have to pick a dog that matches with your lifestyle. I think everybody offered good suggestions, but you have to make the decision on which dog to adopt. I am sure that you will pick the right dog. I cannot wait to see you new dog on Yorkie Talk. :D |

Why not get both!!!! |
Dont Understand I do see some silmilarity but not much. Their faces are different, their ears, their coats, their noses.....all different. Also, so many people have gotten dogs shipped at 10, 11 and 12 weeks. This is the first that I am hearing about 16. Some co-workers of mine got their dogs shipped from a breeder at 10 weeks and they said their dogs are fine. I know a few people on YT that said that they got or are getting their dogs less than 12 weeks (the dogs are being shipped). That was a cute puppy that was posted but I couldnt afford $2200. I have spoken to my breeder and with all my research I know she hasnt cheated me out of anything and the photos are real. I completely trust her and appreciate her honesty. She also knows I am an attorney (for a major firm her in NYC) and I did not send her money through the mail. If God forbid something was wrong, I would be heartbroken, but payment would stop and their would be massive repercussions. As for the name, Lola---I didnt name her. I actually do like that name for a puppy so I might keep it for whichever dog I do choose---if it fits the dog. Thanks for all your opinions!! |

Just for clarification...without breeding rights the puppy I posted is $1400...not $2200. |
AWWW!!! I love the picture of the 3rd, new puppy! I think that if you like the new puppy the best you should get that one because even though they are all cute you want to love them forever and not feel bad about not getting the one you truly wanted. and yes, especially yorkies, they will change there appearance over time, but im sure they will look just as adorable and even if they chaged (which they all do) dramaticaly you will have been with them so long that it wont matter beacuse you will get attached and love your pup. I hope you chose the one you like the most not just beacuse you feel bad since it will come back and will make you have regrets. good luck with the new pup!!!! |
I have had one of my dogs shipped to me. It went fine---BUT I wouldn't do it again if there were no other alternative. I think that the process is very stressful for the pup---and the potential of the pup getting lost is scary. Also, like someone mentioned---if the breeder is USDA licensed---I don't think that is a good sign...isn't it a sign of a puppymill? I could be wrong, but I think that I heard that somewhere. Puppymills are prevelent in MO. You may not want to spend the money on a quality breeder (typically a pet yorkie goes for about $1200 i think)---but that money can save you on medical cost and heartbreak. puppymillrescue Home Page has some info on puppymills. I think that everyone here has offered you sound advice and I hope that you will be open minded and consider it. They only want what is best for you. |

ALL of Missouri is NOT filled with Puppymills!! I lived there most of my life and bought BOTH of my puppies from Missouri! And neither were from puppy mills!!! And FYI Puppy mills can be found EVERYWHERE!!! So I take exception to your statement! Most likely you were told that info...and do NOT know first hand!! To the indescisive Poster...Go with the puppy that you want!!! The second puppy is very cute...and no doubt you're just feeling guilty for changing your mind and wanting the second one! But this is not a time to settle..like others have said! |
im guessing you have to make you decision soon...let us kno what you decide!!! |

 I agree. As this new puppy gets older, it will look less puppyish. I dont think the puppy looks like it has an attitude, some dogs just dont like getting their picture taken :p |
