He's certainly dark in color, without knowing the age of the dog pictured it's hard to say. Could be a younger dog with a coat that hasn't lightened. Or, could be a soft coated dog and the coat (blue) will never get lighter. It can take a couple of years for the tan to completely clear if it's going to.

Do you think it is a young one with hair that long?

she is gorgeous. I would want her to stay that way. I had no idea that some kept some dark on their faces. Does they YTCA allow that color to be shown?

AKC is DQ'ing dogs that aren't the blue and gold even six month old puppies. They aren't supposed to until they are 18 months old but some of the judges are doing it anyway. I pulled my Champion from the AKC ring at 9 months old to prevent a DQ. I was able to finish her in UKC because they give you three years for them to change color. She earned her title at 16 months old but it was really hard. her face as you can see from the pictures in my earlier posts is as gold as it can be. i have never seen one that stayed dark in the face either.

I personall think the dark streaks in the face are beautiful.

trixie has the same coloring, but in her papers it says black and tan
