| Although Stomper got microchipped when he was neutered, it still doesn't make me feel safe. He still wears a collar with tags all the time. I guess all of these things give us piece of mind knowing that our dog "might" be returned ot us if they get out of the house/yard.

| When we inharited Gidget from my mom she had been microchiped already so im not too sure about the cost......It never seemed to bother her any....kinda freaks me out though since it does move around from time to time yuck. But if someone were to "steal" your pup or that it doesn't really do them any good...I mean it isnt like lojack or that where they can locate them. How ever if for some reason they got out and someone found her with 1/2 a brain they would bring them to any local vets and they can scan them for your info. If Gidget didnt already have one I would have gone ahead and got one for her while she got her "operation" :P I mean they are going to be "out" anyhow. I mean better to be safe then sorry...I guess i just figure if she were to get out and happened to loose her collar or someone were to take it off it is just a second defense. Besides I dont know if they range in size but Gidget's is MAYBE the size of a grain of rice..... |

| I did it when mine were spayed, so they were already under and didn't know the difference. My thought is better safe than sorry. Compared to price of my dogs, it was a bargain. |

| I'm not sold on microchipping. As someone else said, you have to make sure they get to a vet or shelter with a scanner for it to work. Also, I read an article about these dog thieves that would remove microchips before they sold them. It would't be hard since the chip is quite small. I prefer tatooing. My dogs have permanent dog licenses with the number tatooed across their inner thigh. No one can remove that and it's obvious to any one who would turn them over. Just my opinion though. |

| I got Bella microchipped and feel better knowing that she has it. She was awake when she got chipped, she was totally ok when we got home. Though she ALWAYS has her collar or harness on when we are outside and they both have tags on them, like someone else said, tags can be removed. I just don’t want to take any chances. True, if someone stole her, they would not take her to the vet or the shelter, but what if someone didn’t steal her but they found her without tags, then they can at least try to track me down with a microchip. Last month my boyfriend and I were on our way to the store and saw a dog just walking around on the sidewalk by a bus stop. It was busy rush hour and not one person stopped to look at the dog, she just walked around saying hi to everyone. We made a u-turn, parked and I went up to pet her and to see if she had a collar or tag on. She had neither. We got her to get in the car (she was a big lab), she was so sweet and cooperative, you can tell she was someone's love. We took her to the shelter, they scanned her, and she had a microchip! They had her owner's information and called them. That reaffirmed my faith in it. I know we'd all like to think that our dogs will never leave our sight and they will always be safe by our side, but in the off chance that some freak of nature thing happens and she's gone, I'd at least have one last hope that a microchip would be what brings her home to me. Just my opinion.

| I probably will get Trixie microchipped, especially because we might go back to Europe some time with her and it is required to have a microchip to do so. My vet said that we should really put her under to get the chip in, because of the size of the needle. |

| is what the microchip is, I had it done when the boys were fixed, it was 10 each and then it is $40 for a lifetime family membership for up to 8 animals with Avid. I had it done at the locale humane society. I also had my cat chipped. All the shelters have the scanners and it makes me feel safer, as it was stated, tags and collars/halters can be removed. If my boys were to get lost, it makes me feel better knowing that they are chipped. A perfect example was last week, I went to take the trash out, as I opened the door, both boys were sitting there, I told them I would be right back and turned and closed the door, I walk about 20 feet from my apartment towards the dumpsters, and who comes running by me, But Bengie (he has been in the house and I do not keep their halters/tags on in the house). If he was not such a total little showoff, I could have lost him, but he had to show off to Mom that he had followed me. LOL. |

| I plan on getting Deegan chipped too. But he is going to get it done when he is being neutered to save him the pain. The vet did show me the needle, and it is quite a large injection. So at least this way he won't feel it. He's a real yelper. He yelps and squeels when he get his regular shots, even when we clip his nails.

I had Mollied microchipped but, the vet wouldn't do it until she was 6 months old because of her weight. Ask about waiting if you really want to have it done until she puts on more weight. I went back and had Mollies done when she was 6 months old if I remeber right they also gave her a local in the spot where they did the injection to cut down on the discomfort. We have another Yorkie that I will probably have done when he his old enough. | |

| Mojo also has a microchip...and you can say that it is not a low jack and does not guarantee his return, but i rather have an extra precaution. I still choose to believe that if Mojo does get lost, if a honest and caring person finds him, or even the animal control, i would have a shot in getting him returned, can;t say the same if he didn;t have it. I still take no changes, he always has his colar with my address and rabies registration, but it is too easy to remove...hopefully it will never matter since i don;t plan on having him lost of stolen. By the way, my boy didn;t mind in a bit getting the microchip, it was just like a shot
