No Longer a Member | Question about different size of yorkies? I am in the search for a birthday present for myself(female yorkie) and I found a breeder who has some available right now who are projected at sizes 4-7lbs and a litter expected from a smaller male and female so they suspect that that they will be smaller. Hooks will be in the 5-7 range when he is bigger and even though I got him from his breeder at 8 weeks he was ready to go in her opinion since he was doing great eating solid food and being a terror to his smaller litter mates.... I never had to worry about hypoglycemia or anything and it is from my understanding that it is a concern with smaller puppies. As a newbie yorkie owner should I try to take it on? I will get her at 12 weeks at the beginning of my xmas break with is a little over a month so I can devout my time to watching over her and any impulse drives to the vet, but is that enough? I already informed the breeder that I am a newbie owner and I am not even sure that they will approve me to get one, but I would always like a second opinion or several second opinions |

| Has Hooks been neutered? If not, I would get that done before bringing another puppy in. As for the size, the size of the parents is not all of the equation. Small parents who have big behind them can produce tiny puppies who grow into larger dogs. And, the opposite can be true. I always kept my puppies til they were at least 12 weeks and usually longer if I was not sure about any aspect of their growth or development. Maybe a YT member knows the breeder you are talking to and can give you more advice than I. Good Luck |
