| new here Hello, well I have been searching through this forum for a little while now and Im loving it! I dont have a yorkie yet, but will be getting one when I find the right breeder for me. I have been wanting a yorkie for years and now that I am at a stage in my life where I am able to give one the proper care that it deserves I am very excited to be on the search for a little bundle of joy! I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions on reliable breeders near KY...Also, is it really okay to have a puppy shipped since I wouldnt be able to actually see the puppy ahead of time? I just want the puppy to be healthy and happy. I have always wanted a small yorkie but after reading some things on the internet Im not sure how small is too small...I will NOT purchase a puppy if they are being produced just to be small, but I really think that small dogs are adorable, how do I decide on a puppy based on their size when I purchase them? sorry for all of the questions, but I just want to do it right |

| Hi and Welcome to YT. Sounds like you are on your way to be a very good mom. I know that there are a couple of breeders in KY here on YT. Try the Yorkies Wanted forum and you may have better luck locating a local breeder. Good luck!

| Hi. Welcome to YT. You will love loving a yorkie. Good luck on your search. I'm in MD. We got our Atticus from and AMAZING breeder. Hope you have the same experience. Atticus is 4 lbs, perfect size for us. Much smaller and I'd be a nervous wreck. As it is, he wears a cat collar with a bell to prevent getting stepped on.

| Oh, forgot, there is a sticky on the General Forum where you can see a growth chart to help you determine how big a pup may be. To know what you are getting, you really need to see the mom and dad, unless you know someone who knows the breeder really well and can attest to the quality of pups they breed.

| Hi there and welcome to YT I think your making an excellent choice choosing the Yorkie Breed . You are right about size, and not wanting one that is way too tiny. Also, it is best to get one from a reputable breeder and the puppy is at least 12 weeks old. i'd personally be scared to have a little yorkie pup shipped , and strongly suggest trying to find A breeder somewhere in your area that you could meet with and see the puppies parents, and ask all the questions to the breeder. I think that it is so important to do this, and not take the chances of not meeting the breeder in person, and the puppies . I wish you the best of luck in your search for the perfect little Yorkie . It is all going to be well worth the extra time and research on your behalf, when choosing the perfect Yorkie puppy

| We all thought Atticus would be closer to 5lbs...according to the chart and considering his parents, he should have been...but he just stopped on us. He is an amazing little man. Such a lover!
