Hi there and welcome to YT I think your making an excellent choice choosing the Yorkie Breed . You are right about size, and not wanting one that is way too tiny. Also, it is best to get one from a reputable breeder and the puppy is at least 12 weeks old.
i'd personally be scared to have a little yorkie pup shipped , and strongly suggest trying to find A breeder somewhere in your area that you could meet with and see the puppies parents, and ask all the questions to the breeder.
I think that it is so important to do this, and not take the chances of not meeting the breeder in person, and the puppies .
I wish you the best of luck in your search for the perfect little Yorkie . It is all going to be well worth the extra time and research on your behalf, when choosing the perfect Yorkie puppy
