| Yeah I use belly bands as well on the boys when I'm out. Chewy is a marker and Tucson will just follow the lead of his big brother. When we're home, off it comes, they have free access to the backyard thru the doggy door and they are fine. My girl Choupette is the best out of the three, she is 100% potty trained and never needs anything. As a matter of fact, one day, the doggy door was shut and she came over to me and started whining, of course mommy here was clueless about what she was asking me and let her be, poor thing never stopped crying until the light finally came on and understood what she wanted. So yes, she's very good.

| I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | Mr. Stedman wears his belly band 99% of the time The only time he has it off is when he is outside going potty or in the bath LOL He is an avid little marker so he has to wear it at all times!

I have never heard of these belly bands before but i would imagine they are a band to go around the boy dogs belly and his bits to stop him cocking his leg up and weeing ![]() Personaly i dont think there is any substitution for good training. Our Poppy is only 6 months old, we have had her from 5 weeks and she stopped doing number 1's and number 2's in the house about 2 months (or maybe even 3) ago. Molly and poppy never wee in the house, we trained them with the treat method. at first you have to anticipate them wanting to do a number 1 or 2, a last resort sign is when they become restless or pace back and forth sniffing about, let them out now or be ready with the kitchen towel and carpet cleaning solution lol Watch them in the garden, if they do nothing then so do you but if they do a wee or a number 2 then make an incredible fuss of them and give them a treat quickly so they know they are getting a treat for weeing outside. at first it seems the message doesnt sink in but hold firm and most importantly.... dont treat them if they go in the garden but dont wee or number 2. they will quickly learn that doing their business in the garden leads to a treat and before long they will be coming to you and asking to go outside ![]() Our pair of sneakers would always ensure we where watching them before they would wee so they would be sure to get a treat, they got to the point where they wouldnt wee in the house at all as that is depriving them of a treat lol ![]() Molly our oldest will often put her back end down in the yard and pretend to wee then come for her "good girl treat" .... it's so funny you have to give her a treat just for the sheer sneakiness of it lol Sometimes poppy will do a wee around the corner in the yard (our back yard is a small "L" shaped yard thats all cement and paving flags) but someone lets her in and doesnt check if she did anything, when this happens she will mither either me or the wife to follow her then she will run to her wee or number 2 in the yard and dance around it till we see it and give her a treat sometimes she even tries to get two treats (one from me and one from the wife) at different times for the same wee or even for one of molly's wee's ![]() who say's dogs are not clever !! Ultimatly i will trust our girls anywhere and even in someone elses house | |

| Great Story Mikejs_UK Mine are pee pad trained inside, but they are fast learners too! They get a special treat for poop (reformed poop eaters) ~ But they are so trained now, that they come to 'alert' me that they pooped OR they 'alert' me that the other one is in the process of pooping...Oh boy they want that good potty treat alright....Yes they are very smart |

| Well, it's a bit of a shame because I've never seen Bernie try to mark anywhere inside. But, the big guy is incontinent, so he thinks all handsome doggies wear belly bands inside. (shh...don't tell him)

| Are belly bands something just American dog owners use ? I have never heard of them or seen them in stores before. We have been dog owners for almost 20 years, firstly with our Doberman (Rebel) who passed a couple of years ago at age 17 (he was a great friend but as dumb as a stump lol) and then with Molly, our first Yorkie just over 2 years ago. I have to own up to being the big fella who always laughed at "lap dogs" and swore he would never have a Yorkie as I used to think they where pointless dogs ![]() When i finally gave in and bought Molly for my wife and as molly grew I became smitten with her, I don't think of her as a dog or a pet, I " jokingly " tell my kids that Molly and Poppy are their sisters lol ( I don't enjoy teasing them but hey..... someone has to bust their chops right ? ). They are as much a part of our family as everyone else, we only have two taboo's and that is not watching us eat and not sleeping on our bed lolMolly used to sleep on our bed but with 2 yorkie's now we wouldn't be able to move our legs at all ![]() Wow..... i realy rambled on and got off topic didn't I , i had to read up to see what i should of been talking about ![]() Belly bands, do they sell them in the UK or is it a case of "make your own" ? We bought the Mother in Law a boy yorkie last year and he sometimes like to mark stuff in the house lol, maybe this is the answer ? |

| Hi, Belly Bands are what I use 99.9% of the time on Baron. He is a Marking Fiend...I only take them off when he goes outside to potty. He's a little slow I think!! He's almost 17 m.o. and still is not housebroken. He has puppy pads in several places in the house and still will go on the floor. Even after going outside he'll come in and go on the floor. The Vet said he's fine, some smaller breeds are slower to housebreak. Baron is the Poster Boy for the un-housebroken !! I get mine from E-Bay. Look up belly bands for dogs and alot of sellers will pop up. I get the ones that are hand-made. You can pick the fabric also. Then you use a poise pad or feminine maxi pad in them and change when they're soiled or you can get washable ones too. Some of the YT members also make them. I have mine made 3 ins. wide and then you measure in front of Mr. Baron's male bits to get a correct size and add 2-3 inches... They're a life-saver and Baron doesn't mind them @ all. He stands still and walks over the band until his back legs touch it. I them hook the velcro and he's good to go! Hope this answers your ??'s Mike j's UK. I love them...

| hi, i have been diapering my dogs on and off for a good 15 years. it really was a no brainer for me. i simply did'nt want my house smelling etc. i have 10 little ones right now, and they wear my doggie diapers all day, until bedtime--EXCEPT for the zillion times a day i take them on and off for them to go outside. i dont beleive there is no dog that wont mark at some point--especially if there is a girl dog that does. it only takes one marking to start it. my little boys and girls all know to get their "didie" on-haha!! i dont call mine bands cause it makes me think of a tight ace bandage, and i believe they have to be comfortable and not chokey. i dont like velcro types anything. mine wear gentle elastic gatherings and snap closures. i put loose leg elastics on my boy ones, so that the band cannot end up with the pad on the dogs back--yes, this happens alot if your doggie rolls around on floor--unless it is being choked with a flat velcro band style, which alot of times, they can pee right out of the top of it. i do anything that they can do for a human baby cloth diaper. put incontinence pads inside, or washable cloth pads, made with the best of baby fabrics--my goodness, i sound like a commercial, and i def am not wanting to be no commercial right now-ha! too busy. its just a subject i can talk alot on. around here, they are quite a fashion statement--every bit as much as if i put a dress oufit on one of mine. they come right over and lift one leg at a time, for the leg elastics to go on. they are so used to them. i got a couple are so funny. they come in patio door, and everyone is also used to being wiped with homemade baby wipies. well, they will get wiped and just stand there until i put the diaper on them! my one boy is like a statue-ha! i'm sorry, i could talk forever about designing. so, yes, doggie diapers are wonderful if used properly, and are meant to be checked regularly. with a proper diaper, you can leave unattended for a while. i have noticed some lately adding clip on neck straps to hole the band from sliding off the dog. this is NOT safe, just being looped around the neck. if you dont know what doggie diapers look like in general, just tune into ebay, and type in search--dog diaper--or dog band--you will see quite a variety. rose |

| hi, i forgot to add, that some dogs that have been trained their whole life--like when my shih tzu girl was alive-- dont need diapers until they get older, like old people. wehn she got to be like 13 years old, she would get scare when she sensed rain or storm was coming and would just squat down and pee, but yet she fully knew how to go outside. it was then, she started wearing diapers, as that and any loud noise would scare her. so, sometimes, a comepletely trained dog, gets older and something scares them, or they just cant control it like when younger. i for one, could never see putting a dog down just because it is old and everything else is functioning, nor could i see that my house has to stink because my dog is getting old. alot of people also wont use diapers because it does require a lot more work, and cost. so, if you have to use them, you can make them work for you, and also be amusing in adorable novelty prints. i guess the best time too, is bad rainy weather, as these little yorkies can be real little devils then-ha! i got a few, that do little turd on floor, and do happy dance, like hey mom! look here it is-ha!! i recently had a saying digitized into embroidery, and told my hubby he might have to wear it on a hat-ha!! "got poop?" diapers of any kind, are not for poo! they have tail holes. rose |
