I'm sorry you are having trouble with Cassi's hair. The bands shouldn't be the problem. They are high quality latex grooming bands. I think the fact that you are leaving the topknot in for three days is the problem. You should take it out every night.

How are you taking the bands out? If you are rolling and pulling at them you will mat the hair. I love band removal scissors. You just hook the band and snip.

Yes, I think found out the problem...it's b/c I've been leaving it in her hair over night. I put a new band on around 5pm last night and then snipped the bands off with a scissor around 10pm....and there was no tangles or mats.

I left her hair alone this morning, since I was running late for work. So I'll probablyl tie them up again when I get home and remove them again tonight. Thanks everyone!!!

Is she still a baby? It'll just take time... she will eventually stay still for you.

I have found this to be the easiest way. I have Mia sit on my lap with her head facing away and I can easily comb her hair and put it in a topknot.

I have the same problem with Lacy. She really hates having her hair put up and those bands are so little..... She will leave it alone as long as I am looking at her, but the minute the back is turned... there it goes. I've tried clips and bands and bows... nothing stays for more than about 30 min.

Sorry for taking so long to post pics up, but here's some pics with her hair in a top knot (or at least I think it's a top knot)....

I tried not to tie it so tight and the last picture she's sporting one of your bows.

Thanks, I think I've made some improvements over the last few days. Also I've been taking them out every night and haven't had any problems with the matting. Thanks for all the advice/tips!!

You can also try the ouchless for kids. It's sold at walmart, at the hair accessories. Make sure you get the pack that comes in different colors for kids. I use it on cuddles and I love it! Because it comes out so easily and its real stretchy.

Great job, I think you are on the right track with not putting it up too tight. She looks so precious in the topknot! Love her haircut. I leave Joey's in over night, but I find it easy to loosen it at night, and then redo it in the morning, and it's never on very tight.

Start getting her use to your handling that area by just petting her topknot area when she's just sitting in your lap. Then start gathering the hair without trying to put anything in the hair. Let her get use to being handled in the topknot area. When you are ready to put the band in put her on a narrow table or counter area (personally I found the best place to be the toilet seat lid!!

) this way she will not want to move about because she'll feel unstable. Use the small orthodontist size rubberbands they'll wrap around no more than twice and are easier to use than larger bands. Bottom line practice, practice, practice...both you and Zoe will get use to it sooner than you realize!!

Put them up on the counter where they are pretty close to you, with no distractions. With practice, they will get used to you putting bows in, and learn that the more cooperative you are, the quicker it is over

I don't know what kind of bands you are using, but I use the non-latex kind. They are the best bands I've found...and I have received many compliments on them. I remove Darcy's by cutting, or if I am changing in the same day...I just slide the end of a rat tail comb under it, and it comes right off...
