| Should I be Worried? Due to the current state of the Economy, I recently had to start working more, I used to only work 2 Nights per week and now I added a 3rd Night and possibly a 4th Night? I don't work every Night, I will work one Night and then take the next Night off or 2 Nights straight and then rest, otherwise I would have major Sleep deprivation since one of my Pack of 3 Yorkie's eventually wakes me up.....to take them Pee Pee @ no later then 8:30 am. My problem is my Mom recently moved-in (68 yrs. old and hates Dogs) she has been here exactly a month today. She is trying to make "Friends" w/my 3, of course they have learned to manipulate her into feeding them Table food.....everything! They have all gained a pound each and I personally have gained 2 pounds! I have explained why it's not Healthy etc. but she still won't STOP, she sneaks them Food behind my back too. I don't know how to handle it? Another problem - All 3 of them refuse to go for "Walks" while I'm at work, they will go out to go pee off Leash in the back & front of our House, but won't walk past the Driveway on or off Leash w/my Mom or my BF? If I walk them at Night w/them they will go and if by chance they do "Walk" they will NOT go Pooh w/them only w/me? I don't want to force them to go but with all the extra Food and weight gain I am worried that they need more Exercise! I had Artie Neutered about 6 months ago and I was warned by his Vet. that he would gain extra weight anyway. I have had to walk them @ 3 am. when I get off work. They probably sense that I DON"T Trust anyone else with them?Should I be worried? |

| The feeding of the table food has to stop. Not sure how you are going to accomplish that, but they will get overweight even with additional exercise. Explain to your mother that it is more thasn just weight it is over all health. people food is too rich for dogs and hard for them to process. Maybe have her go to the vet with you and let the vet tell her. |

| Another idea Perhaps you could convince your mother to give them only acceptable foods. Apples oranges bananas carrots green beans are all foods that they can have. Keep some on hand and maybe she will comply with your wishes. My guess is, she wants the dogs to like her so she spoils them by giving them things that you won't just like a grandma. |

| Good to hear from you again!!!!! I agree with Jeanne, let your mom know the acceptable fruits she can share with them and tell her NOTHING else. Besides the weight gain, does she understand issues such as pancreatitis and how really simple it is for them to get really sick very fast? If they won't walk for anyone other than you, how about asking your mom to "play" with them in the house? Would she do that to continue making friends with them? Will they play? That might just be the answer for both you and she. With these guys being tiny, regular play time can suffice as exercise......

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I would try and explain that the dogs can get very sick from table food and it can become very expensive to treat them. When I have family over or Holidays I tell them my dogs cannot eat ANY table food or they will be at the er vet and the family member can pay the bills. I am a very mild mannered person but I just cannot take chances with the girls health. My pom won't go out for anyone but me unless physically carried out. And I think getting her to throw toys for them tochase is a good idea. Good Luck
