YT Addict | My Yorkie's Ears When I first got Bailey, her ears were standing up. Then they flopped down. Now her ears are bouncing back up again. I had read somewhere that it might be because of teething (she is 10 weeks now). You can see it in the avatar. Regardless of how her ears end up...I think she is adorable. I just wanted to know if that is normal. Bailey is my first Yorkie so I'm not sure what to expect.

Teething is often blamed for the ears dropping, and it may be true. In my experience the puppy's ears will drop in the beginning of a growth spurt and stand again afterwards. The calcium requirements of new bone growth are such that the cartilage in the ear is less stiff during rapid growth stages. Weigh her every day and test the theory...I'll bet when her growth slows her ears will stand again. During these times, and especially at her age, giving her some plain yogurt mixed with her food is a good idea. The calcium is beneficial and if the yogurt has live cultures her digestive system will benefit as well. Congratulations on your new family member!

| When I first got Lucky his ears were down. I trimmed them and like magic they stood up. After about a month they came down again so we trimmed again. They stand up all the time now. I think keeping the tip trimmed is the trick.

| Mocha's left ear was also flopping down, and she was 16 weeks by the time I got her. It flopped after I left the breeder, called them up, she told me to tape it, but as we know Yorkies aren't the most submissive dogs So I tried trimming it.. It flopped once more when the hair started growing long again, but one more trim and I think it's done now. You can see in my avatar her chest hair have grown kinda long but the ears are still just.. ears lol

YT Addict | Pictures of Bailey's Ears When I got Bailey at 8 weeks her ears were erect. At 9 weeks, they had flopped down. Yesterday (10 weeks) they looked like they were coming up again. And then I wake up today and her ears are completely up. Here are her pictures in order documenting the change.
