The male testicles are responsible for making the bulk of testosterone, but the bodies of males and females make it too, and how much varies greatly among individuals. This applies to humans as well as dogs.

| My Chewy is 4 yrs old and is a spayed female, and she humps me! Since she's generally good with me and respectful (knows I'm in charge), I assumed it WAS sexual and would let her, thinking she needed to get her urges out. Now I know it's definitely not that, and that she really is trying to show her dominance. I'm going to try a few of the things you all suggested, making her wait for her food etc... Oops! Thanks!!! Also to the person who posted this thread... When your dog does this I suggest just persistently pushing her away, even if it takes 20 tries. I plan on now just pushing her off me, and I'll move away if need be. When I say in a stern voice "no", she usually listens (sometimes it takes a few tries), but she doesn't like to "disappoint" me, as I believe these dogs like to please their owners? Stand your ground. In other situations I've used the technique before someone else mentioned here, where you gently grab her and put her on her back, letting you know YOU're the "leader of the pack". Good luck!

| Yes, I have had a problem with Suzi Humping my leg, or arm. I put a quick stop the behavior , and tell her NO ! in A firm voice. She tries it again anyway, and then I repeat the Nol ! The odd thing about aasuzi is that she only tries humping me? I am certain thei is a dominance thing with her, because she knows that I am the head of house hold. SHE's never ever done it to anyone else. Suzi started this behavior only at about 5 months old. She's 7 months now , and every once in a while still tries it.

| she did it again last night and I pushed her away and said no and she stopped for a minute and then did it again and before I had time to push her away my grandma goes no and she stops and goes and lays down I dont get why she wont listen to me she does for the most part about everything else. I asked my grandma and thinking she was being funny she said cuz your her mother. Callie is not a bad dog or mean or anything but I'm thinking this is my fault I havent made her listen to me and stuff enough because when she dosent I just brush it off but I'm not going to do that anymore I know I need to get her listening to me better exspecialy for her safety if she gets out the front door or if she gets an to anything unsafe. I feel kinda like a failure.

My Suzi is A sweetheart too, and loves to play, has a lot of energy, and just sometimes does undesired behavior . Do not blame yourself. IT is what dogs do, even females .With time and patience , your dog can be trained not to do the behavior. PLease don't be so hard on yourself.

| My Yorkie is 5 1/2 months old and she has a stuffed giraffe that she humps. I dont make her stop because the Vet told me it was natural for her to do this with her toy. If she were humping me, I would push her away immediately but she has never humped anything other than her giraffe. Im told that it is a dominance issue too. |

| I agree that it may be a dominance behavior. I have never had a dog try to hump me or any human for that matter. However, Katy Lou has just started to hump her soft furry bed that I keep on the couch for her. I just give her a toy to change her train of thought and ignore the behavior. I don't yell at her or anything. I think once she is spayed she may forget to do this. |

I do not believe that it is normal behavior for a well adjusted, submissive, neutered/spayed dog. it is bad behavior and should not be allowed. In fact if a male is allowed to do it their penis will come out and can become sore and infected. Y'all can let yours do it if you want to, but in my house there will be no such behavior. | |

Well, I don't know about that, but I heard that humping could cause hair to grow on the pads of their feet!
