I am sorry to hear this. I can relate. When I was 23, my husband told me he wanted a divorce. He didn't flee the country or anything, but he left me. That was a really hard time for me. But now that I'm 28 I've realized that it made me a much stronger person. Yes, I'm still single....but I'm happy. Stay strong and positive. And hold on to your friends. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Thank you so much! I am not concerned about if/when I will remarry - I am just thrilled to know that this experience made you stronger and am confident it will for me as well. I just want to find my happiness. I am spending all my time with my furbutts and my girlfriends.

I am sorry about the divorce, BUT you sound like such a wonderful person, and your EX sounds like such an As*hole. You deserve better, and he definitely doesn't deserve you, so congratulations on ridding that loser!!!! Good luck to you and your furbabies.

Thanks again, guys! I know its sooo cliche, but I truly did not know what a jerk he was when I married him. I was 19!

Turned out to be an alcoholic in denial of his disease, verbally abusive, mommy's boy. But I loved him. Love is such an irrational thing. I am working very hard with a therapist and on my own to understand why I got into and stayed in this relationship and to become a stronger, wiser person.

Honestly, I think the relationship was doomed, however, the relationship really started to crumble when his mother HIT my dog, Louis, (while also intoxicated of course) and my husband's reaction was to say 'don't worry about it.'

What can I say, I still love him, but he did me a giant favor by leaving...because I never would have left. And I will never, ever take him back. Luckily, we had no kids and he didn't even try and get custody of the dogs because he knows he can't even take care of himself!

I am just pulling myself up, each day, working on being happy with me and so, so grateful for the support of you wonderful Yorkie Talkers!
