| I felt so stupid, but I had to share... On Saturday, my Lucky played with my brother's dog for six hours straight (when I say played I really mean wrestled, but I digress). She was tired and layed down, but he continued to want to play. I grabbed him and held him so he couldn't get to her. I was watching a football game and watched a few plays. When I looked down he was limp! I lifted my arms and he hung over them, I thought, "Oh God! I've killed him!" A wave of panic sweapt over me. When I picked him up and looked at his face, he opened one eye like, "Mom, I'm sleeping." I told my mom what had happened and she said, "Of course he was asleep, he was has been going full speed for six hours!" I felt like such a dork. I do this with my own health too, though: skip right over all the small things to dead. |

| lol dont feel stupid..i use to do that with my siberian husky. He would always go into such a deep sleep...that i had to get down on my hands and knees and listen to hear if he was still breathing. It definitely makes OUR hearts stop for a minute ..doesnt it?

| Im sure we have ALL done that. My boys are usually alert, even when they look like they are sleeping. If I move their eyes open and they follow me. But the few times they really are out cold I get panicky if I move and they do not come with me! Its a normal reaction I think!

| I am amazed and just a little jealous of how totally dead to the world these little ones can sleep. I can't count the times I've picked Gracie up while she was sleeping thinking the very same thing...SHE'S DEAD!! She is so sound asleep and so limp. I guess that's why she wakes up so refreshed and raring to go every morning.

| omigosh, i did the same thing when i was babysitting 6yr old twin boys (humans) they were wild for hours then just keeled over and fell asleep within minutes of each other i was so scared they'd given each other a concussion or ingested something (even though i'd been watching the whole time). i woke them up briefly and then actually stood and watched them breathing till their mom came back...she told me that the synchronized conk-out is normal for them...doh!

| Not quite the dead club, but..... Ok, so I am not a member of the dead club, but I could be a close relative! I am a dispatcher. We spend at least 40 hours a week either dealing with crisis, or waiting to deal with the next crisis. If I can see someone, I am comfortable that they are fine. (Ok, when the kids were babies, I checked to make sure they were still breathing, but for the most part, I was ok!) But I am absolutely certain that everytime anyone leaves my sight something horrible is going to happen to them. My kids HATE it. They are 19 and 20 and they still check in on a regular basis just to let me know that all is well. (I think they figured that if they didn't do it at a time that was convenient for them to talk, I would call them at the worst possible moment!) And poor God - I nag him CONSTANTLY asking for his protection over - you name it - my kids, Roxy, my family, my officers, the people on the phone, the people involved in the incident the officers are on or are going to, the deer I pass on the side of the road.......the list seems to have no end. Anyone else like me, or am I truly just crazy???

| I'm not yet a member of the "Dead Club"...though I'm an active member of the "Sick Club"! When my puppy is asleep on my lap and her face and body parts jerks or twitches, I'm like: "OMG! Is she having a seizure?!"
