| Yay!!!! I took my baby scarlet to the groomers this morning for the first time! Oh I was so excited, my little baby is growing up! LOL shes only 15 weeks old. She was so shaky and nervous, I felt so bad for her. After a few minutes she loosened up and just let kathy do her own thing. She must of took her big girl pill. LOL!!! Anyways she cut her toenails and gave her a little trim and shaved her but hair. After we was all done she put a little bow in her hair oh how cute. It was her first one ever. There were alot of firsts today. Oh and she said that I have got the cutest yorkie she has ever seen and was really suprised at how much i paid for her. She said i got a great deal. Oh im such a lucky yorkie mommy. Oh and ive got a question, when she trimmed around the eye area she found a little red patch. She said that it could be from sinuses or from her eyes watering and it caused the skin to get red and pussie. Has anyone ever had this problem and what can i do to dry it up or get rid of it? Any comments would be appreciated. Thx, bunches. |

| awww, babies first hair cut. Be sure to take pictures of her all gussied up! You're lucky that you could be with her during the cut. I would love to find a groomer that would let me stay with Gracie, since I can't I just struggle thru doing it myself. These wee ones can have weepy eyes and when it dries it can harden on them and cause sores. Check the corners of her eyes, right by the bridge of her nose, if you see gunky stuff there you need to wash it off. If it's already hardened you can just wet it, let it soak for a few seconds and then work it off. We wash faces daily to help keep it from building up. When we got Boo he had a lot already dried on and it took several days to work it all off. I used wet cotton balls and just held them on him for a little while, then used a fine tooth comb and my finger nail to work some loose. Be very careful to not poke the eye. Boo is a very tolerant and patient boy and although it must have hurt like the dickens, he sat still and let us work on it. We were sure to do only a little at a time then let him rest and gave him treats for sitting so still. Actually put a tiny little bit of Neosporin(sp?) on afterwards to help heal the sores.

| Thanks for the info I really appreciate it. I dont understand why a groomer wouldnt let you in with your baby. Maybe they think that they do better when their mommies aernt there, who knows! Oh and the neosporin advice I will try that out tonight. Thanks again! |

| Just a note on the Neosporin, just a very small dab will do. Boo's a good size boy, 10 lbs, so his head and eye area are larger then many Yorkies. I put some on my nose to see if there were any fumes or such that might burn and it was fine, but you want to be sure that the ointment doesn't get into the eyes. So just enough to help cover and heal.
