| I can't go into pet stores either. The last shop I went into before we baught Harley, I left crying. My hubby thought that I was crazy, but I think at the moment it actually hit him how much I wanted a dog - so I guess it worked out for the best! Jeri and Harley |

| I'm terrible...when I go into the pet stores, I always try and talk to the people looking at the puppies and inform them about puppy mills. I'm sure one day I'm going to usher out....until then I'll keep yakking...!!! |

| I know what you mean... that is exactly how I ended up with my Coco Pebbles! I was getting my nails done and walked by the shop and ended up with my new little companion. Bchgirl... I love your little Reggie. I have never seen a Yorkie with that coloring and I think it's so cute!!! He doesn't look very old, is it a puppy? |

When you open your life to a rescue you also open your heart. They will love you unconditionally. Thank you for loving her back as well. I feel the same way as you, it doesn't matter what the purchase is it still bring profit to the store owners.

| I also feel so bad for the puppies in the pet shops, but I remind myself of their parents who are suffering a far worse fate and it makes it a tiny bit easier. I try to reason with myself that these puppies will most likely find a home where they will be loved. I wish their parents would ever get that same chance . |

| Here in the Uk it's illegal for petshops to sell cats or dogs (they do sell hamsters, gerbils etc)...but I can imagine how heartbreaking it must be to walk into a shop and see them in the way you've all described. I'd never even heard of a puppy mill until I joined YT, and I think it must be so hard for people who aren't educated about them to see the puppies in the window and not want to buy one....maybe even feel like they've 'rescued' them. I think education is the key to stopping this. xxx

| I am happy to say that everyone in my family either got their dog from a breeder or is a rescue. No pet shops or puppy mills for us. My mom has 3 rescues, including a morkie with 3 legs. And shes so sweet. My daschund is a rescue and he is the most loyal dog I have ever known.

I hug and kiss my precious Daizy everyday.....thankful that she's NEVER known a life like that. She left a wonderful loving home to come to an even better one!!! Or so I'd like to think!
