| 12 weeks X by 2?? Hey everyone!! I was wondering if anyone has had this situation? I went to the post office to weight Suri, (I don't have a scale, it was either that or the grocery store ) Anywho...she weights 1 pound 6.6 ounces according to the machine... this freaks me out because when i picked her up at the breeder she was 25 ounces, (1 pound 9 ounces). I took her to the vet and they weighted her and she was 1 pound 6 ounces. They said she was fine, eatting, drinking, pooping, and peeing. Has anyone ever experianced such a loss in weight?? At 8 weeks you triple the weight and she came out to 4.5 pounds... now she will be less than 3 pounds? She seems absolutly fine, it just doesn't make sense to lose weight in 4 weeks.

BANNED! | It sounds like one of the scales are not accurate. It's best to use the same scale each time if possible. 4 weeks and a weight loss is not sounding right. She may be a picky eater but she should still maintain or show a slight gain after 4 weeks. I would watch her for signs of liver shunt. |

| It seems to me, you get a yorkie and it never happens that weight works out right. I think it is only a good guess.. some seem to become bigger eaters. mara was 1.5 at 8 weeks, and is now over 6 pounds.. at her weight that would have made her 4.5 pounds grown. yet so many work out right..it seems we never really know. One at 8 weeks that weighs two pounds should be 6., but ended up at 5 pounds.. it is strange but I think like humans it is a surprise.. most breeder might guess a weigh but will not guarantee a weight..how could they.. anne |

| Yea I dont know about those scales ether. If they are correct she should be maintaining her weight or gaining. How does she eat?

Donating YT 10K Club Member | In order to get the exact same weight on different scales...they would have to be calibrated....they aren't. I'd continue to rely on the scale at the vet's office. Btw, the puppy weight chart is wrong the vast majority of the time.

| ok that made me laugh, I can just see myself at the post off weighing my puppy and some old lady asking me where i am sending her too. If she seems happy healthy and is eating fine I would not worry to much, if you still have puppy shots to do your vet will weigh her everytime and you can keep track. Also I am sure they would not mind if you just stopped in and checked her weight occasionally.

| Those weight charts are for the birds, when I bought Chewy he weighed 1.5 lbs and they assured me he would be around 6 lbs - today he weighs 13 lbs and he's not overweight... what can you do? he's my favourate teapot in the house..

| Once i weighted her at the post office, I went to the vets office and got her weight, and it was the same. (This is the same scale i used when she had her check up). She is eatting fine, and is happy and healthy. I just think that is weird that a pup that looks like she is growing weighs less in a 4 week time?? I really don't care what she weighs when she matures, I just want her to be happy and healthy. Also it was a bit funny when I took her to the post office I waited until it was closed and went in, a few people looked at me a bit weird, I think they were trying to figure out what I had.

| It's pretty creative to use the scale at the post office to weigh your baby. Good luck with your baby. |

| I would never have thought of using the postal service so creatively. Way too cute! Okay, I know I am gonna sound like the nervous Nellie that I am, but has your vet said anything about muscle mass loss or any other sign of LS? Your baby is most likely is still just adjusting to a whole new life and routine and, just a thought, but maybe her breeder had fattened her up a bit too much. And, maybe she was still nursing and being fed at the same time when you took her from the breeder. I know a person who feeds her Yorkies at all ages stuff you cannot imagine-sausage, gravy, hot dogs, burger and such, cause she likes fat puppies and dogs. If your baby is just "lean and mean" then no worries but maybe your vet would do a blood panel and stool just to make sure that nothing is going on to keep her from gaining weight. |

| I bought a baby scale at amazon.com to keep track of my babies weight. I think I paid 47.00 shipping included. My furbutts are weighed once a month and the reason I do this is because I have to monitor Mimi's weight because of her having LP on her back knees. Don't want yall to think I'm a weight freak with them because my girls are big girls...lol Gabby weighing in at a whopping 9 lbs 13oz (she really needs to be at 7 lbs) Mimi weighing 11 lbs 14oz (needs to be at about 9 lbs) and the only one thats maintained his weight is Timmy weighing 7 lbs. I feed them all the same amounts but for some reason my girls blew up...I mean I do know why Mimi blew up because she's on steriods due to her allergies but not sure why Gabby gained so much weight. |

The breeder only fed them kibble and Suri's mom had weaned them off of her. (Occastional sips here and there) But no table scraps or treats. She has the same condition she has had, just a little bigger and fluffier. I guess I'll just keep an eye on her. I am giving her nutrical and yogurt on occastion because we are swtiching her food. So far no loose stools.

| I did take a picture, hehe It thought it was funny, she is looking up at me, like what am I doing on here. Plus this was the first time I have taken her out since she came home! So she enjoyed it, even if it was a 5 minute trip.
