| ![]() My neighbor has a Silky, yes she looks a lot like Sophie Kate but there are some big differences. 1, her nose is different, longer and pointed. 2, Her body is longer. A lot of time my neighbor gets asked if her Silky is a Yorkie and she always corrects them. Her Silky is a very cool dog, smarter than any dog I have ever met and she is comical.

| ![]() I was told by my groomer that Jackson looked like a Silky. I really don't know the difference. I really could care less if he is or isn't. But to me, he personally looks like a Yorkie. He's just a "poorly bred" Yorkie if you want to call him that. He's 13 pounds at 6 months but I think his personality and face are ALL Yorkie! His body is maybe a bit on the long side and his tail is undocked but that's just because he didn't come from a reputable breeder. What do you think?

| ![]() Okay, now y'all have me paranoid about my babies! ![]() Do they look like silkies to you? Here they are at about 4.5 months. Chewy weighed 6.5 & Sophie weighed 5.5 then. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | ![]() Just because a yorkie may be out of standard does not mean it turns into another breed of dog. Un-informed people confuse them simply because of the size of the dog...and there are more differences than soley size.

| ![]() I think having a Silky would be just as awesome as having a Yorkie. Like I mentioned my nieghbors Silky is one of the coolest dogs I have ever met, she is smart and so comical - she entertains me constantly when I babysit her. Sophie Kate LOVES her, secretly I think Sophie Kate wants to be a Silky.

| ![]() I found some pictures of both Mimi (the Silky) and Sophie Kate (my Yorkie) at about the same age. They both looks so much a like it is hard to tell what is what. I love Mimi's ears in this picture, we used to laugh at her and say they were like two dinner platter on top of her head. Thank goodness she grew into her ears.

| ![]() How can anyone tell them apart? From the pics you posted, I would assume both were yorkies. ![]() |

Thanks for these links....this was great. However, I think Sully may be a Silky. He has the longer body rather than boxy. Interesting. I hope we don't get evicted from YT for being imposters.. Every day is a school day on YT. Last edited by Gigi485; 04-17-2009 at 08:53 AM. | |

| ![]() I can definitely tell a difference from the AKC website. But I still say in the "everyday" world it would be extremely hard to tell a difference. Maybe it's just me, though. ![]() |

| ![]() A silky has hair that feels very course to the touch..their hair will only grow to a few inches below the belly they stay gray on the face and not gold like yorkies. There really is quite a difference. I have never seen one with curly hair either. |

| ![]() You are right. Silky's are usually larger in size and long. Two totally separate breeds.
