My Tiki started out the first year with thin, slow growing hair, which I found out later is how the very desirable silky coat starts out. Now at 2 1/2 she has an amazing full long silky coat, never mats and is beautiful. There is a sticky note somewhere in the forums, describing the coat changes; I'll look for it and post a link when I find it.

| ![]() Tobey's ear hair doesn't ever ever seem to need trimmed, and his leg hair is not thick at all. It is wispy-like I guess? I know I posted a long time ago in this thread and I don't think I have had to trim his ears much since then. The hair on his back is sure thick and grows! I know he is a yorkie for sure and the little love of my life! He is currently looking out the window and making funny noises because we have been getting strange night storms here in the midwest! Anyway, as far as grooming goes he just gets wispy all over. His hair doesn't get really thick, but if you saw him, you would never think anything was out of the ordinary. Especially on his little belly, his hair is SUPER thin. is that a characteristic of red leg? I don't know if Tobey is one or not. Either way I don't really care. He is my love! He did have a really rare allergic reaction when he had his first rabies vaccination. He now has a small (like 1/2 dollar size bald spot) on his "hip" I guess you would call it. Anyone else have something like that? the vet said it was rare!

| ![]() That sure sounds like the description of my Meggie, very thin hair on the tummy, baboon but, thin leg hair and her hair was trimmed a little around her ears and it hasn't grown since. I once received a Yorkie that was on it's way to the pound, it had a bald spot on the hip too (where shots are given). I thought it was because the lady hadn't fed him properly and his diet inadequate. Eventually, the hair filled in over that spot, but was slightly different in color. |

| ![]() My Pixie has red legs and her face if red. The body is silvery in color. She has hair on her ears that need to be tirm now and then. But the body hair seems to grow very slow. When we got her at 4 months she was black and tan, but now at 2 1/2 years old her hair is silky and the coloring is red face, legs and body is silvery. She is beautiful.

| ![]() I'm almost sure she is. Her hair feels very silky on her head, neck and shoulders, but in her back and leg feels kinda hard and dry. She is 4 months I see a lot of new hair growing but like I said they feel hard. You guys can see more pictures at my album... |

Buster has long, thin legs with wispy hair, the hair will grow some but not much. I tell the groomer to not cut the hair on his legs. Both legs were shaved last week for surgery and I know it will take months for him to have hair on his legs again.

| ![]() It's all making sense now! We adopted our sweet Ginger a couple of months ago. She had been rescued from the woods, so her history is unknown. The rescue organization called her a Yorkie, and our vet calls her a Yorkie mix. We adopted her for her sweet disposition, so either is good with us. She looks a lot like Sissy! She's a little on the large size for a Yorkie - a very thin 8 pounds when we got her, and now close to 10 pounds. She was covered in mats and burrs when she was rescued, so her entire torso was shaved by the rescue organization. She really fits the descriptions listed in these posts, but the hair on her back is still only about three-quarters of an inch long. We keep trying to convince ourselves it is growing, but it's really not. (Reminds me of my grandmother who always thought her artificial "air" plant was growing and would comment on it each time we visited her!) We've had her face groomed, but we may find our grooming bills to be quite reasonable. The hair on the top of her head is really soft and pretty, the hair on her back is course, and the hair on her face and legs is reddish, wispy, a little thin, and does whatever it wants to do! The decision we made to adopt her is the best decision we ever made! ![]() |

| ![]() Sissy looks exactly like my Rubin. His parents were both Show dogs with flowing silky coats. The breeder knew he would never have the proper coat and sold him to me. He was neutered right away. He is my perfect little gentleman. 100 % Mama's kissy boy.
