| Crazy Puppy How do I settle down a crazy puppy? Niles gets wild, I mean REALLY wild. He loves to play attack, biting our ankles, our hands, our pant legs. We try desperately to train him "no" but he just doesn't understand. Niles also had a relapse in his wee wee pad training. I just don't know what to do, I know theres a good puppy in there... but I just need for it to come out. Please help!! We started bringing him out into the yard to run and get extra energy out... do you think it could have made him MORE wild?

| Sounds like my Pita, she gets crazy too sometimes. It usually only lasts about an hour and then she is wiped out. Lucky for us we have a golden retreiver that helps wear her out. How old is your puppy? Pita is 15 weeks. I'm not sure there is much you can do except letting him get the energy out. Sometimes I can get Pita to stop by giving her something good to chew on. Good Luck! |

To stop him from biting, give him a toy instead of your leg or your arm. He is teething that what is causing him to bite a lot too. What worked for me is: when your puppy is trying to bite your hand, scream loud ouch and make believe you are hurt. Also make your hand limb. That will definitely get his attention and he will stop. Then ignore the pup for 10-15 secs. Then go back to playing with him. Just repeat the steps each time he tries to bite. The thing is he doesnt know he is hurting you, that is why you have to tell him. They dont understand what we say so we have to make it more obvious to them. Hope it works for you. What part of Staten Island you live in?

| Also Has ne been neutered yet, I hear that settles some of them as well....but my take on it is jsut getting older makes a difference. I saw a BIG difference in Mika after she reached one year.

| Suzi is 7 months old and has A couple of Crazy puupy minutes a day.. I j ust figured that it because She is A terrier and A little puppy. that is really how they are, and just want to play.Suzi play bites, and alway pulls our pant legs and shkes them in her mouth . I think that it is cute when she does that. After playing hard she settles down and rests. These moments do not last , and i have put up with them.
