Male Dogs: The good, the bad, the ugly and the special!

1. Is your male dog neutered? Riley and TJ are both neutered and it was the best decision I have ever made.

2. How old was he when he was neutered? Riley was 6 months old. TJ was just neutered last week and he is 5 months old.

3. Does he lift his leg to pee? Sometimes but it is usually in his litter box

4. Does he mark? Riley has only marked one thing and that was TJ's house. He wanted it to be his TJ doesn't really mark anything. Sometimes he pees on the gate we have set up to lock him out of the living room, but I think that's because he isn't fully potty trained.

5. Does he hump stuff? (I know, weird question, I'm not too into dogs humping and I don't think Esme likes it either). Riley only humps his stuffed animal cocker spaniel/girlfriend. He has never humped anything else. TJ is only 5 months old and was just neutered, and I have yet to see him hump ANYTHING!

6. Is he pee pad trained? Riley is litter box trained (we put pads in the litter box) TJ is in the process of being litter box trained.

By the way, I don't think any of us are bothered by all of your questions. I personally would prefer that you ask more questions and do research before you go out and buy another precious little Yorkie. Let us know if you decide on a male or female and post pictures of your new addition ASAP!

3. Does he lift his leg to pee? Hardly ever!!! He does more of the squat and a little lift!!!!!

4. Does he mark? Never!!!!

5. Does he hump stuff? (I know, weird question, I'm not too into dogs humping and I don't think Esme likes it either). When we 1st brought Luig home, he loved to hump his stuffed kitty. But I truly think it was more of a dominance thing! I would tell him- No Humping, and take away the kitty! He quit humping it after a month or so! So he quit humping way before he was nuetered! Every so often when we walk, he may lift his leg to mark HIS space, but very rarely!!!!


6. Is he pee pad trained? No- He goes outside!!! Thats how we trained him.


I absolutly love my boy!!! He is such a mama;s boy!!!! He loves to cuddle and loves to play!! He even plays by himself!!! Its sooo funny to watch!!!! He also loves my hubby!!!! They love to snuggle too!!!!!

I think its great you want to get a brother for Esme!!! I think she would love it!!!! Actually- I am in the process of rescuing a little boy!!!! So I will actually have 2 boys!!!! Thats how much I love him!!!!!!

2. How old was he when he was neutered? will (when he's 5 or 6 months)

3. Does he lift his leg to pee? no he squats

4. Does he mark? not sure what that means??? he has accidents on the floor but he doesn't pee on funiture or anything like that. hes too busy chewing on it

5. Does he hump stuff? (I know, weird question, I'm not too into dogs humping and I don't think Esme likes it either). yes, when the kids 16 and 7 get on the floor and play with him, he tries to hump their arms or legs. he has never tried to hump me or my honey. i agree with the dominance thing.

6. Is he pee pad trained? yes but he's only 4 months, so i guess you could say he's still IN training. he has accidents sometimes, but only because sometimes his little body and wee-wee are not all the way on the pad on he gets some on the floor.

Maximus is neutered (almost a month ago~5 months), he was potty trained (for pee) on the pads at about 99% at about 14 weeks, and poop he got about 2 months ago..and since his neutering he relapsed with poo but is back on track again. He doesn't lift, he squats....he has humped about 8 times...although I have seen 2 girl dogs do this as well, and he has never marked!!

I own 2 male dogs (1 yorkie & 1 ddb) and thought I'd answer your questions

1) Neither are neutered. We show our ddb and plan on showing our yorkie.

2) N/A

3) Yes, both do.

4) ONLY on the outside. Neither have ever even TRIED marking inside.

5) Neither do. That's one behaviour I would NOT tolerate.

6) Nope. Bailey is trained to go potty outside. Puppy pads are 'not my cup of tea.'
