| no name yet, so far her name is 'good girl' ![]() I had to step out of the house for an hour or so today so i took her out and she made #1 and #2 - GREAT i though, i can leave her for an hour no problem. I left the house (freaking out the whole time) and got back and she had pee'ed in her kennel - she was SO upset. I cleaned her up and played. About 30 mins later she starts sniffing at the door (AWESOME!) and starts to pee. I snag her up and run her outside, she then poops! YAY! It would appear she has made a mental connection with going outside for bathroom time! I'm also working on 'chew toy good, table legs bad'. Every time we play with a chew toy i praise - when she chews a leg i slap the floor and say no. I'm exhausted, but i love her. and no name yet, i'm awful |

Pup is now crashed out on the couch getting ready for bed. She is in desperate need of a proper bath. Need to pick up a couple of things at the pet shop tomorrow (dog soap being #1). Tonight is night two, i consider it 'night one of puppy bladder endurance'. My hope is she can hold it longer and longer so that SHE can get a good night sleep and not get cold outside. We shall see Also thanks for the name suggestions, every name helps | |

| What a cutie you have there. Keep up the good work on potty training 101. A suggestion...consider using a word or phrase such as "hurry up"...that's what I did for Winston. He learned quickly that it meant go potty now or hold it. But really she's doing great that she is already associating the door/outside/potty. Patience and consistency are the keys along with a schedule. Hope you come up with a name real soon...usually after seeing her and knowing her you'll find a name that fits her perfectly. Most of all simply enjoy her...they are so worth it.

| Smarty is a cute name! I currently use the words 'go potty' for umm, going potty. After potty its the GOOD GIRL party. So its 2:45 on night two and things couldn't be better. At 12:45 and 2:40 she gave a quick 'meep!' and i rushed her outside and she pee'ed quick. No poop yet though (i hope she is holding it). The other good thing is that *I* got used to waking up, much less painful then last night. I figure on more potty break around 6am. I also am giving her some food/water time to make sure her blood sugar levels stay even through the night. Thanks to everyone in this thread! Just having a little 'diary' of events is helping me stay focused. Vet at 9am, puppy is asleep on my bed now (time to put her back in the crate), time for smoop to sleep too! |

| 5:47, got a poop out of her. I then brought her back in and realized "where there is smoke there is fire" back out for a pee (it worked). So that marks the first night with no accidents in the crate or house (woot!). Also no false cries at night, she only cried when she had to go. right now i'm hearing her belly make noise, so its either bad gas or diarrhea ![]() back to bed |
