| One spay and one neuter today! Today Pantera with her grade 2 LP gets her spay and my male who was to be her stud will be neutered at the same time. She turned a year old June 10 this year and he is 5 months old. Surprisingly, I am at peace with this. I have a very good Vet and I know they will be fine with her. My biggest worry at the moment, which I am sure will change after I drop them off, is that I hope they don't over shave the dogs. They both have long coats (they male is as long as can be for a 5 month old) and I really don't want to cut them and start over. As I said, I am sure my worries will change once I know they are off to surgery. These are my best friends in the entire world! |

| I don't think you have to worry about the shaving. They will shave the tummy area a little bit, not the chest area at all. It won't look bad. Your babies will be just as beautiful coming out as they did going in.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I know they will do great! Roxie was just spayed ans she is 11 months and I was a bit worried about the shaving but they just shaved a little area on her belly and all her long hair was in tact.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I think you made a very wise decision with your little girl; too many breeders will go ahead and breed a dog with LP, passing the gene down another generation. In a way, I really feel sorry for breeders, because they don't get to enjoy the wonderful companion that a spayed or neutered pet can be, especially with males. Best of luck, and they shouldn't have to shave anything, but the tummy for this. Are you going to have any teeth pulled at this time? Many people get remaining baby teeth pulled at this time, so that they don't have to be put under at another time.

| Best wishes on the surgeries today. Bobby was neutered on Friday, the vet only shaved his private area and his a small portion of his leg for the IV. You cant even really tell. |

| Thanks so much for the well wishes! They pulled through very well except for Pantera had a bit of a hard time. I left them with the Vet and told her to do whatever needed to be done thinking it wouldn't be a big deal. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU SAY THAT. My bill came to $575! Pantera had her Dew claws on one side removed at my request which at her age is considered an amputation. For some weird reason, I think the breeder's Vet forgot one side of the dog. I never said a word about it because I felt that a mistake like that was unforgivable and I would rather take care of it myself. The rear claw was really bothering her or I would have let it go. Her spay was an extra charge due to an enlarged uterus which I need to ask some questions about when I get her stitches removed. When I picked her up all I was told by the tech was it's nothing to worry about now that the uterus has been removed but I still have questions. She had two retained canines that were also removed at my request. Pantera didn't pull out of the meds until this morning so it was a long night for me. The poor girl didn't realize she was home until 4 am this morning and I brought her home at 2:30 pm yesterday. Now Eddie: He bounced back like a pro. His neuter was a breeze but here is what I didn't plan on. He had 10 baby teeth pulled! They were all loose so I figured thay would just fall out but she pulled them to be sure they would not be retained. That added $55 to my bill. He had a full blood panel which added $41 which tested for lyme, heartworm and yadda yadda. She looked at his knees and said he was a go again so far. This is the third time she checked his knees comp only she doesn't realize it's the same puppy. I am not really complaining because I did say to do what needed done, I am just in shock a bit. Nothing can compare to knowing you have healthy and well cared for dogs though. It cost me a pretty penny but I have the peace of mind knowing that both are healthy and receiving the best care I can give them. Pantera does not tolerate meds well and has to have all her vacines given in 3 visits; each one a month apart. They just wipe her out completely so I did expect her to be down and out but the extra time under didn't help matters but it couldn't be helped. I like this Vet because she gives a 3 year vac program. Pantera gets only lepto every year and dip and rabies every 3. It works much better for her. You cannot do this unless you have an adult dog though. |

| thankful I am thankful they both are doing better. You are right about rather paying the money and having them okay. My Sammy went in to get neutered about 5 weeks ago and had a severe allergic reaction to the anesthesia. I called at 1:30 pm and he was "okay." At 2:30 pm, the vet called to say he was in trouble. By 3:00 pm, he was gone. Needless to say, I was devastated. I now have his half sister, Zoey. She has been such a joy to have. I do totally trust my vet and they took time the following week to answer all of my questions. They didn't charge me for anything. When it is time to have Zoey spayed, I will go back to my breeder's vet as she knows the family of dogs. It was just a freak thing. I almost panic now when I read about someone getting a dog neutered or spayed. I'm so very glad yours turned out for the best. Zoey and I "visit" the side of our house where Sammy is burried. I tell her what a little turkey he was!! I was very thankful to have the 8 months with him!!!!! I hope things continue to get better! Lots of love and kisses!!
