Back on the Topic of Manhatten Dog Runs....Below is the list of NYC Department of Park Runs. Yes the Washington Sq. Park on would be near NYU. I haven't visited that run, but the Union Sq. run not too far away is nice. It's not very large so I haven't seen many large dogs. Do to its fairly small size owners tend to keep a good eye on their dogs. Carl Schurz Park (2 runs) East End Ave. To East River from Gracie Square (East 84th St.) To 89th St. DeWitt Clinton Park (2 runs) West 52nd St. & West 54th St., between 10th & 11th Aves. Fish Bridge Park Dover St., between Pearl & Water St. Inwood Hill Park Dyckman St and Payson Ave. J. Hood Wright Fort Washington & Haven Aves., West 173rd St. Madison Square Park Madison Ave. To 5th Ave. between East 23rd St. & East 26th St. Riverside Park (2 runs) Riverside Dr. at West 72nd, West 87th, West 105th & West 141 Sts. Robert Moses Park 41st & 42nd Sts. At 1st Ave. Peter Detmold Park West of FDR Dr., between East 49th & East 51st Sts. Theodore Roosevelt Park Central Park West at West 81st St. Thomas Smith Park 11th Ave., West 22nd to West 23rd Sts. Tompkins Square Park 1st Ave. To Ave. B, from East 7th to East 10th Sts. Washington Square Park 5th Ave., Waverly Place, West 4th St., between McDougal & Thompson Sts., south side of the park (behind building) Union Square Dog Run 15th St. & Union Sq. West

Well me and coco ventured out to the dog park on 79th on Sunday the one at the boat basin. We didn't go eat but we saw the cafe. I thought it would be more like a fenced in play area for dogs. I guess that is what I had in mind. But its just a regular park where you walk your dog along trails with you. It was about to rain so there was not anyone out there and I was alone so I didn't want to venture too far. There were some tunnels and of course this being NY there were people sleeping in them so I did not want to venture to far by myself especially being that the park and trails were empty and along wooded areas. We may go back but I will bring someone with me next time. Also I am going to keep my lookout for a park with a fenced in area for the dogs to play together in.

I don't know of a dog run in the area of the boat basin. Sorry. I just know that if you want to eat, and bring your dog that is the place to go. Brad and I tried to go there last night, but the storms started while we were driving into the city. I think we are going to try again tomorrow if anyone is interested. Is anyone up for the union square dog run on Saturday???
