I can definitely see how you feel. Your Pebbles is absolutely adorable and I can see how much you love her. Men in particular seem to find great joy in insulting not only our small dogs but also us for caring so much for them. I had a man tell me that Pebbles needed to be put onto a spicket and roasted. I shot him a nasty look and talked to Pebbles like he was STRANGER DANGER. Boy he did not like that treatment.

For whatever reason some people think or just don't care that their words and actions do not hurt others feelings. There are a lot of very mean spirited and ignorant people in this worlds.

If others were more concerned with their own issues and looked to make their lives happier this world we live in would be a much better place.

Pebbles is your choice as a member of your family just the same as my Morkie Doodlebug and my Yorkie Pebbles are members of my family. When people make rude or belittling comments regarding their size or mixing of breeds that hurts as well. It makes you NOT WANT to return for more ridicule, snide comments and unwanted judgement. Overlooking this is a very hard thing to do since we are all human and have feelings and some people take these types of things more to heart.

Some people with never learn from their behavior and snide it is hard, the only thing we can do is ignore their ignorance and move forward in a positive manner.

After all you went through to find this class, and you were so excited - I am SOOOOO very sorry. All kinds of things went through my mind as I read all of these posts....First and foremost - this is special time for you and your Pebbles. After the negative experience you had with your last class, I agree with you that I would hang in there with this class and this instructor. What if when the next person who thinks they are so very funny with their "quick wit" makes a hurtful comment, look at Pebbles and say directly to her (and of course so the offender can hear!), "Don't let him hurt your feelings sweetheart. He doesn't really mean to be rude, he is just jealous of your brains, beauty, and kind heart." Then look at your offender and smile sweetly and say, "Don't feel bad, Pebbles doesn't hold a grudge against people say rude things to her. By the way, I noticed that your dog is ..." and find something to compliment their dog on. Whether it seems like their dog is kind natured, or has a pretty coat, or seems excited to be at class - it doesn't matter what - every dog has something wonderful about them. Find it and point it out to their owner. Kill them with kindness. As for Pebbles clothing - it is so totally a matter of YOUR preference. As long as the clothes don't get in the way of her training, it shouldn't matter to anyone else. However, I would save the formal-wear for graduation night when she is class valedictorian! I am a huge Pebbles fan - don't let other peoples ignorance upset you, because Pebbles will sense that you are upset, and that will take the fun out of this new adventure.

You said Pebbles was doing really well with the actual lessons - that is wonderful! What are you working on with her this week? I am proud of you for the way you worked to find this class - hang in there and enjoy your Pebbles time!!!

People are jerks they are just mad cause they cant dress their dogs.

I dont always take the high road. I am a B.... when people say things about my girls usually I will give it right back to them so they realize what they are doing. I will confront them head on and usually find something wrong with them not their dog because I love animals but not a big fan of people.

First of all I just want to say that I am so sorry that you had to deal with such stupid comments made by some very RUDE people I just don't know how people have the NERVE to say some of the things they do! I have never had anything rude said to me about my babies - just people asking if Tatum is a "teacup" and if she is full grown - but never anything "rude" about either baby thank God cause I'd end up just going off on them - seriously

I would just say something smart right back to them and see how they like it And I have to say...that comment they made about Pebbles looking like A CAKE What the heck was that??? Sorry but that is just weird and confusing. How the heck can someone compare a Yorkie to a cake? I don't even know what the heck that means Some people are just plain weird

Oh and P.S. - The clothes thing, that is none of their business - plain and simple

It's too bad there aren't more quality schools for little dogs. I've found that many trainers of big dogs don't understand little dogs. At my first school, they had me use a buckle collar around his neck and give him "corrections." I didn't know better and tried it for a couple classes, but I finally learned to question and challenge instructors if something doesn't seem right. Good for you for doing just that.

As for clothes, I agree with the group. If you can't find another school where there are no rude people, ignore them. If it continues, talk to the instructor and tell her you'd like to address the group.

Comfortable clothes have no ill effect on the dog. In fact, Yorkies have no undercoat, so they are actually much cooler than their double-coated big dogs. So what is their problem? If they don't like little dogs, fine, but tell them to keep their comments to themselves.

It will be sweet revenge if she's the star of the class at the end of this or other classes. Keep up the good work!

Oh Gosh... I am very sorry this happened Your Baby Pebbles is so precious and adorable It would be hard for me not to start making snide remarks back at them... the bigger dogs and people who have them are only trying to overcompensate for what they lack of.... AH huh, I feel what comes around goes around.
However, the leader needsto put a stop to this, and show respect, and be the example of the class. That is what bothers me the most. He allowed it to continue? Shame on him.
If you want to dress your baby up, then go for it! she is so cute... Your taking that class to learn just like everyone else, and for the first class she is the most well behaved out of all of them!
Hang in there, and do not take that B.S. from any of them! It is so disrespectful of people to act like this. That is ridiculous that the trainer did not put a stop to it.

I'm sorry this happened to you just hang on in there. Maybe you could get some t-shirts printed up. Yours could say "If you can't say anything nice" on the front and on the back" then get OFF my back!" and Pebbles could say "What SHE said!!!"


It may take time but they might come around. We went camping this weekend with my brother and his 5 kids. His eldest son is 14, a typical teenage jack the lad. He laughed when he first saw Mika in her little pink coat, by the end of the weekend HE was the one walking her everywhere and he even said "Now I want a yorkie 'cos you can dress 'em up!" LOL! He was such a picture, all in black with his hood up and this little dog with pink coat and lead. And when we went to the outdoor market he even picked her up and carried her whenever it got really busy or there was a big dog coming our way!

1) I didn't pay my money to you so that I could be insulted and picked on, if thats what I wanted then I'd go to a comedy club!!!

2) My vet recommended you, what would you suggest that I say about how I and my pet were treated in your class tonight?

3)Have you ever worked with toy breeds? I worry about their more delicate necks.(using the gentle leader)

4) Remember "Legally Blonde"?...yeh,everyone thought she was just fluff too!

I'm so sorry that you're going through this...I kind of wondered when you said that this trainer worked a lot with larger breeds

In our family we have tinys up to giants (80# +) and I see no difference in how they should be treated- all are special!
If you do decide to stay in this class, ignore the morons and let your lil one show 'em how its done!

I would be pretty upset. I'm short (around 5 foot) so I am always hearing comments about my height such as "So just how tall ARE you" and I think it is sooo rude --- I don't go around asking people their weight... I mean you can see how tall I am. I think it is a lot like that for Yorkies. I'm sure I won't mind the ones saying oh he is so cute and so tiny! But the ones acting like they aren't as good of a dog, I won't be too happy with

As far as the clothes thing, I guess everyone is allowed to have their own thoughts, but unless it is asked for (such as having a convo about it) a simple comment is more than enough to let you know what they think - and that is if you are kind They wouldn't like it if we said something like OH MY! You don't even have a coat on that big dog, it is freezing outside, what a bad owner... (not that I think that!).

The guy who lives across the street from our summer cottage has a Weimaraner. Every time I get out of the car with Gus, he says, "Look Maggie, it's a squeaky toy!" I take it in stride because I know he's just trying to be funny; that's just the kind of guy he is. And he goes above and beyond as a neighbor when we're not there.

At the dog park, oddly enough, the only ones who comment are the women, and mostly they just say, "He's so CUTE!"

Sounds like you've run into a lot of rude people who can't mind their own business. Yeah, they wish they had one...

We were at my grandkids soccer game this past Saturday with Oliver and Brooklyn...Oliver gets over excited when the ball comes near where we are sitting..(he has an obsession for soccer balls!) So he started barking for the ball...i then got the comment "is that a rat or a dog?...he sounds like a rat"! Anyone hear ever hear a rat bark!!!?? How stupid!

I would definately, politely and respectfully, say something if it continues....and for sure....go on to take TOP in her class!!!
