| Sometimes a vet will see a dirty ear and say MITES. They need to take a scope and look into the canal..the mite is white and it is moving. If I buy a puppy or adult..I treat it for worms and mites no matter what the vet says..it is too easy to miss this stuff and then the whole house is infected... Also, mites might depend on the area of the country..I do not know. Maybe some vets rarely see them..I do know they are common where a number of dogs/puppies are housed together. A breeder never has only one pup with ear mites..it is like one kid in the class room with head lice or ringworm..it goes through many of them. As to Benefield...I had a rescue to rehome once..it went to Benfield every 6 months and they did a complete set of shots, except rabies, wormed, routine blood work, heartworm test and the bill was $400 or so..BUT they had a contract and it was reduced to $275..they made the owner think they were saving alot of money when in fact they were giving the dog many shots and treatments it did not need. This was a senoir citizen too. |
