| My friend's yorkie was stolen...but then was found Here's a brief summary of what occurred (the yorkie, Addy, was staying with my friend's mom in Louisburg, KS, when someone stole it from her backyard while it was out on bathroom break): My Friend wrote: "Addy Girl is home safe! My mom has put word out all over the county and made flyers, etc. Funnily enough, the dognapper called our vet to get her nails clipped and said that someone had died and they were now the dogs new owners, and he then called my mom out of suspicion when they didn't show up for the appt. With a name, my mom tracked them down, id'd lil Adeline and got the cops to go get her. They had been taking good care of her, so at least there's that.." Does anyone know what kind of criminal charges could be pressed against the perpetrators and if it would be worth going to all the trouble to do so? Any help would be appreciated! Nevertheless, a good reminder to always keep an eye on your dog, even if it's in a fenced-in yard. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Thank God the vet was on top of it and her Mom was able to track them down. My guess is they will just say they found her wandering and get away with it. Stinks. So happy she is safe.

| Well of course, I would persue it! It is a THEFT! Turn it over to the police and let them decide if they can make a case.

| Thank goodness. Great detective work. I would say if you can get a statement from the vet, you should have a case. If they stole the pup from a fenced/locked area it can even be charged as a felony! Here as long as the value is over $500 and they broke in it is a felony. I had that situation with a phone and the person was charged multiple felonies.

By all means your friend should press charges. I don't know how much she paid for the dog but I know in Texas that theft over a certain amount can be a felony. If nothing is done to the person, they may try and steal someone else fur baby.
