Here's a brief summary of what occurred (the yorkie, Addy, was staying with my friend's mom in Louisburg, KS, when someone stole it from her backyard while it was out on bathroom break):

My Friend wrote:
"Addy Girl is home safe!
My mom has put word out all over the county and made flyers, etc. Funnily enough, the dognapper called our vet to get her nails clipped and said that someone had died and they were now the dogs new owners, and he then called my mom out of suspicion when they didn't show up for the appt. With a name, my mom tracked them down, id'd lil Adeline and got the cops to go get her. They had been taking good care of her, so at least there's that.."

Does anyone know what kind of criminal charges could be pressed against the perpetrators and if it would be worth going to all the trouble to do so? Any help would be appreciated!

Nevertheless, a good reminder to always keep an eye on your dog, even if it's in a fenced-in yard.
